It must suck knowing your smart coach lost to that guy.
...and lost bad.
...and lost bad.

How many SEC Championships does the shrimp boat captain have in his time as head coach?
In three years Kirby has 1 (not to mention a playoff win).
Intelligence can be a pretty subjective measurement.
SEC Championships are pure fact.

Kirby's taken his team into December playing for the CFP in every year except his first.
Kirby beat #2 AU for the SECC. Beat #2 OU in the Rose Bowl. Took Bama to OT in the MNC.
O averages 3.3 ppg vs. Bama....ungood.
O had a monster game vs. my Dawgs, I'll hand him that. He also lost to UF and A&M...and Bama of course

Kirby’s blowout losses every year against the West sure are puzzling.

Given the choice of anyone else or Kirby, I would still take Kirby..

Any answer would be pure speculation.
What is NOT speculation, but pure fact, is that Kirby has already won one SEC Championship in his first three years as a head coach. The shrimp boat captain? Nada.
Again, no speculation, just fact. So if you want to hold a strong personal belief that Coach O is smarter than Kirby, shoots pool better than Kirby, can scrap book better than Kirby, whatever better than Kirby - go right ahead. But he sure doesn't win SEC Championships better than Kirby. And that is not based on belief, just pure unalterable proof.

now let's do OOC games in the same time period!
OOC record:
UGA under Kirby
2016: 4-1
2017: 5-0
2018: 4-1
Totals: 13-2
LSU under the Shrimp Boat Captain
2016: 1-0
2017: 3-2
2018: 5-0
Totals: 9-2
on the surface, UGA looks to have a better record; but the Shrimp Boat Captain did miss out on 3 OOC games as the head guy in 2016; however, we cannot change the fact that only ONE of these men has a winless year in OOC games...
so let's take a look at common foes in that time frame
Notre Dame - this is a school that UGA beat on the road and LSU lost to in a neutral location
this is not really a big deal, as Notre Dame is a top tier program and gave UGA a really tight game, and yes, LSU does only have 1 more OOC loss.
but, diving a little deeper, we have to look at one very important stat; losses to lower division schools AND homecoming loses
UGA - none
LSU - TROY
so the answer is clear, YES, Kirby IS smarter than a shrimp boat captain

Ed O has done a good job at LSU, so the comparison is not an insult.

You're really harping on the 1 SEC Championship. Props to Georgia for pulling it off, but it would not have happened against Bama. I'm sorry look at the National Championship game that year. Sure you beat Auburn, but so did LSU the same season. And you had to play them twice to beat them. Georgia has had some impressive wins, but that just makes O's 20 point win against Kirby even better. In conclusion, neither can beat Saban. So I guess you can say they're in the same shrimp boat.
