Why would this embarrass you?

Because our fans sound like irrational whiny bitches. And they will surely write emails to CBS and the SEC, making our fanbase look like idiots.

How is this irrational though? I understand this is about money. But it's about money for ESPN too, and having a competitor in CBS control the night telecasts when that's not the current agreement doesn't help ESPN's telecasts, notably their ABC primetime game.

Please let me know the answer. I don't understand how this equates an advantage for Alabama.

It would be an advantage for LSU if the situation was reversed.

CBS would still move the game to 7 if it were in Baton Rouge. It just so happens it's in T-Town this year. Our other CBS games haven't been moved this year because we haven't played the #1 or #2 team.

Not really. That perceived advantage is overrated. The benefit is mostly for fans who like to tailgate all day. I love night games in Death Valley, but the team plays just as well during the day.

ESPN is obviously getting something in return.

But everyone here is acting like CBS can just do whatever the hell they want to "maximize dollars" as if it's that easy.

bullshite dude. Were you at the game yesterday? Shell of itself and would have been ten times better at night. You can argue that the outcome would have been the same and I would agree, but in big games this matters IMO.

So you think espn just let them do this? Ok. If the game was in BR it would have been changed to a night game. Christ you lsu fans are so butt hurt.

Don't group all LSU fans in your statement. I personally don't care what time we play I just want to win. The game time doesn't matter to the players.

Oh and Christ has nothing to do with this.

So you think CBS can just unilaterally make this choice whenever they want and ESPN just sits there?

No. It's called money. Contracts are waived all the time for monetary consideration. CBS bought the right to move this game to prime time from ESPN. ESPN profits. CBS profits. Economics 101.

I am not reading 6 pages of LSU fans bitching about night games in tiger stadium, nor do I want to read about some conspiracy theories about how the sec or cbs or ESPN is out to get them.
You want more night games?

Simply start losing. And lots. just start going 0-8 in the conference, then cbs, etc. Will not care to televise your games, thus you can start when you damn well please. The tv industry is not going to change for you. Get over it.

Where have I shown that I don't understand how it works. My question was what ESPN was getting in this deal to justify letting CBS do this. Supposedly the details will be released tomorrow but it's scheduling having to do with next year. Not sure how next year scheduling valuations are made. My point is that ESPN must be getting something pretty damn good for CBS to be able to do this. Still doesn't change some of my irritation, regardless of my understanding of economics smart guy.
