Hopefully LSU was able to get a guaranteed night game against Bama next season when the game is in BR. Somehow I doubt ESPN or CBS are willing to make that deal.
This was inevitable though.

Yeah they were paid. Or something was agreed to. Still think it's bullshite because I'm sure the SEC had to sign-off on this. IMO, this gives them an advantage, however minimal.
Holy hell. Its a 1 v 2 matchup. It could be an 11am kickoff and it would still be just as loud.

I'd like to apologize for all the butthurt retarded LSU fans that think there is a CBS conspiracy. They're just idiots.

Explain.
This game was not moved to prime time because ESPN, CBS, and Slive hate LSU. It was moved to prime time because it is the biggest game in college football this year and CBS bought the rights to show it at whatever time they felt would get the highest ratings.

Why should ESPN or CBS placate LSU's tradition. They are trying to make money.
Ding ding ding! There is zero added advantage for Bama with this move. This is great for college football fans.

I know this is about money. But why would ESPN appease them to increase competition for their ABC and ESPN night telecasts? Assuming CBS gave something, just curious what it was.

I just asked in the thread on the Rant, how in the hell this could be an advantage for Alabama. I just don't get it. We have some irrational fans.

Why in the hell would they make that deal? This is about #1 v. #2 ratings bonanza. Not LSU v. Alabama and all of your dreamed up conspiracies. Jessee Ventura should move to Louisiana. He would win the governors race there with 80%.

It would be an advantage for LSU if the situation was reversed.

I'd rather go to a night game in Tiger Stadium to enjoy the tailgating and the atmosphere...I don't understand why LSU fans don't feel the same way about this monumental matchup.

This is why some LSU fans are complaining about it being moved:
We were essentially told that we must abide by the television contracts the SEC negotiated for, and we couldn't move games to night. That's why a lot of LSU fans don't like this move. It really doesn't bother me since we've shown we can play in a hostile environment this year.

Dear Tiger Fan,
It is truly unfortunate that, for the first time in 76 years, LSU will not play a Southeastern Conference game at night in Tiger Stadium the entire 2011 season.
Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium is a tradition for our fans, a staple in college football and one of the unique experiences in all of sports. It is the hallmark of LSU football, a brand for our athletics program. It is revered by football pundits and feared by Tiger opponents.
But with success comes a price, and in this case the price is afternoon kickoffs instead of night football. CBS will always take the game it deems to be the most interesting and that will often involve teams that are playing at the highest level. LSU is ranked No. 1 in the BCS standings at this moment and that puts Tiger Stadium in the cross-hairs of any TV network.
LSU is fortunate to be a member of the Southeastern Conference. It is the most successful and prestigious conference in America. It is the home of the last five college football national champions – and numerous national champions in other sports – so Tiger fans regularly get to witness the very best college football has to offer.
I am sure you are aware of the many recent changes in conference alignments. LSU is fortunate to be in a viable, stable and successful conference and not in the volatile situation many high profile universities find themselves in right now.
As a conference member, LSU must abide by the television contracts that have been negotiated by the SEC. The financial benefit of being a member of the SEC helps make the LSU athletics program as successful as it is while also remaining self-sufficient – using no state tax dollars and no student fees. Without the television revenue from the SEC, this would not be possible.
It is important for you to know two things:
LSU cannot refuse to move a game. If we are requested to move a game for television, under the existing TV contracts, we must do so.
LSU receives no additional money for playing a game in the afternoon. Whether kickoff is in the morning, afternoon or night, LSU receives the same money from the SEC.
I think I speak for everyone at LSU that we would rather play all of our games at night. But to remain a competitive program we must be a member of a conference and therefore must abide by its TV contracts. So I hope you will come to Tiger Stadium on Saturday afternoon and make it just as loud and intimidating as it would be after dark. There is no place like Tiger Stadium on Saturday night, but there is no place like Tiger Stadium on Saturday afternoon, either.
As always, we welcome your comments at athletics@lsu.edu. Unfortunately we cannot answer every e-mail we receive, but please be assured they are all read.
Geaux Tigers!

Because our fans sound like irrational whiny bitches. And they will surely write emails to CBS and the SEC, making our fanbase look like idiots.

So you think CBS can just unilaterally make this choice whenever they want and ESPN just sits there?

Some of you LSU fans sound like the whining Auburn fans..It is always a conspiracy against the barn rats no matter what and you guys sound pitiful...I guess if LSU were to lose you will be the first to blame the loss on TV scheduling.
