Jack Delrio you'd have a great recruiter great D and would have an equal to Saban! And he'd take the job!!!

As a fan of good games and heated rivalries, I personally would love to see TT to auburn.
New rival with old team Auburn.
Facing Nick Saban again, both in different teams.
And LSU fans hatred for TT, and him going to the team that no one wants to admit is a rival.

Great football could come from a TT hire.

Art Briles seems like a good replacement. He seems a little sleazy to keep the mojo going.

he has never left the state of TX. I don't see why he would at his age.

Not really. His recruiting success the last few years has raised some internal questions in me. I have no proof, just a feeling. I do think he is a good coach. I don't know if he would leave TX or not. AR is not exactly that far away. I do believe Briles will be in the top 3 of choices.

Art Briles is who they need. He would immediately be able to tap into Texas, something Arky has invariably sucked at. Arky should have a much better presence in Texas than they do. Much better.

He's their guy. It would not be good for us, but Briles is the best hire they could make save the unrealistic names.

The answer to this is clear as day. That being said, I hope they hire Malzahn or some shite.

I think Arkansas best option is to not hire anyone for this season. Too much negativity with the fanbase and everyone that cooler heads won't prevail for any failure this season, which is inevitable.

In the end, although I have no doubt that Long will try to go big to placate an otherwise irate fanbase, he'll end up with Gus or Kirby. Unless a big name is fired in the NFL and falls into your lap alah saban or petrino, the realistic options are Gus or Kirby.

Lot of uncertainty with Kirby as a head coach. Proven reecruiter though. Does he want Arkansas or is another better option going to be available for him if he waits?

Gus is a familiar face, some supporters, some detractors. Would be sort of meh but maybe meh is what you need right now.

Hudspeth would be another name if a bunch of other guys said no.

I think Arkansas will have to go after someone that can compete on a coaching level with Nick Saban.

God is already locked into a contract next season...

do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?

gus is not a candidate. unless long wants his nutts hanging in the rafter of bud walton area, gus will not be taken seriously. he is not a viable option. the players don't want him, the fans don't want him, there are a select few that keep putting his name out there bu tit's not happening. he is not very popular here in Arkansas for the most part.

like, i have no problem giving a new coach a clean slate. i can do that given the events that happened. but if he hires gus i am seriously out.

Kirby Smart would certainly be an interesting name. I think he would ideally rather wait and hope the Tennessee job opens up but he might never get that chance. His greatest asset to a program is his ties to Georgia recruiting though and that would not bode well in Arkansas. Arkansas needs a Texan.

Maybe. But is Dooley really going to win this year? shite, Dooley was close to getting canned this year, which surprised me. They're not going to wait for another year of mediocrity. I think Tenn will be better, but maybe not good enough.

Kirby is still a risk/reward hire. But in this day and age of college football, it's hard to just take a guy from another power. Only a very few schools have that ability. shite, UF is one of those schools, still went with Muschamp, and I'm still thinking the jury is out on him.

They've shot that down already?

I do think Long will want to make a big hire to settle the fanbase. But if he really wants to land a big fish, he'll be better off waiting this year out with an interim.

If we're going to go unproven assistant then I would much prefer McGee over Smart.
