I will wait it out now. I will instead buy a new 5th wheel toy hauler instead.
It's your money so do what you want, but if you financed or were the matching donor on removing the track you would be a Mizzou folk hero. Just spitballin here.
Or bring the toy hauler and tailgate for a week every home game, not a bad option lol.
Folk hero status though with a plague in the stadium that says this track was removed by the generosity of El Segundo Guy and never having to pay for your beer at the game would be eternal.

If BO's teams are like Mark Stoops' after 5 years, he will probably being getting fired, not praised. Why would we want our ceiling to be that low?
In case you didn't know, the Stoops name is a big deal in Ohio high school football. They have a lot of connections. Cincinnati is closer to Lexington than any big city is to CoMo. So he can recruit well there, but we disagree that they are recruiting a lot better than us and definitely disagree that we want to emulate that level of success.

I say Strong because he's the only one who maybe should have played more.
I think it is more likely that Dana Howard and Terry Hawthorne are planting these seeds rather than someone on our team.

I'm going to count this as a recruiting win. Looks like Wallace can help our DL much more than our OL.

Arkansas doesn't blitz very much and we rely on our front 4 to bring all the pressure. We do have some pretty good pass rushers there, but we play off the WRs with our secondary, usually giving them 7 yard cushions.
It's funny because that describes MU's previous defense that some fans are upset about transitioning from. I think any defense can be good if implemented and executed well with good players.
It seems our coaches are doing what they think is best for years 3-5. That is when they get extended or fired. They will play younger players and turn over the roster in a couple of years so that years 3-5 are set up. If they lose some games that shouldn't be early on, it just allows for more progress to be shown in subsequent years. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but seems to be standard operating procedures for new coaching staffs.

I don't know what the current rulings are on flag burning. If there are State or Federal laws that prohibit flag burning, then he can. If the only issue is 1st Amendment rights, then he can not. Basically government employees have to follow public policy.

Why couldn't there be?
There are tons of program rules. Many that prohibit things that are not illegal.
Any example of rules that prohibit Constitutional rights or will this be where everybody uses examples that are not related?
Is the head coach a public employee of the State or not? Does that make him a government employee? Don't State rights have to follow Federal rights when it clearly is detailed?
If you want to argue a head coach is not a public employee then you open a big conundrum regarding football taxation and are players students or employees.

Do people actually believe there could be a team rule that states players can not own a hand gun?

LOL. I guess I overestimate the intelligence of college kids and school administrators.

Well since this is happening at universities across the country since we enabled this type of behavior I am sure it would be easy to find an example of that if it were true. Unfortunately, it's not.
At what other school were the students dumb enough to set up their protest in a building that is in use? Trying to compare situations that have very little similarities is a waste of time.

I actually think most schools would have handled that situation quicker than tOSU. Letting them disrupt work and then trespass after hours until 5 am doesn't sound that impressive.

They can peacefully protest all they want. As long as they are also living up to their obligations to the team and under their scholarship
What obligations did they not fulfill?

Using your logic, what if they refused to play because the student center has Pepsi and not Coke? Should they be allowed to skip games without repercussions because of their right to voice their opinion?
More of the bad examples that are not relevant.
quote:
I don't care as much as many that they skipped out on the program but I also wouldn't have had a problem if they were disciplined
To discipline them, are you punishing for the protest or the missed practice? I think one could be found unconstitutional and the other could be excessive. Either way would probably cost a lot of money in settlement. Running stairs seems more appropriate than pulling a scholarship.

There is plenty of precedent to generally determine. If it is unique enough it could end up at the Supreme Court.

I don't think you understand the difference between criminal law and university policies.
Everything we are discussing is civil, not criminal. The fact it is a public university makes it worse. I feel like you are so far in the weeds, it is hard to continue the discussion.

Bottom line, the University has the legal room (including within the athletic department) to do pretty well whatever they please, including revoking scholarships and expelling students

If they had boycotted a game, the conversation would be different. We are discussing what happened. You and others have said they should be punished for protesting.
Anyway I will check in later, but I have to go...

There are limits to your rights that have been challenged and upheld. Saying offensive and obscene stuff is not protected. You keep using examples that are not relevant. What did the football team do to hurt public safety, offend, etc.?
re: Mizzou in danger of losing AAU status?
Posted by Tigersessed on 3/24/16 at 12:55 pm
You are confusing the outcome to the cause. The football team missed one practice, what should be the appropriate result? If you are disciplining because they said something on twitter, what should be the discipline?
You keep mentioning tangible effects that have outcomes that are easily measured. It is not that simple.

Would we be punishing football players if they felt the field at Faurot was not safe and they had said we are not playing a game on that field until it is better?
If we take scholarships from student athletes for peacefully protesting, it will end up at the Supreme Court for the first ruling ever.

Punishing people for missing a test that has already been stated must be taken is different than punishing people for exercising their rights. Do you have any examples that are relative?
