I just saw Obasohan in an interview. The kid seems like a genuinely really good dude. Awesome BB player. I also learned he speaks 4 languages. Damn
Avery, I liked this hire from the beginning and I believe he has found a home in CBB. It fits his style and passion. I know it's early, but I think he is great for the game at this level. Based on Obasohan and the way Bama is playing, you can tell Avery makes a major impact on these young men.
Good get Bama and he may be a hard one to keep long term. I said may be, but you never know with a principled man like him. Great game

He needs to talk about himself in 3rd person again.

Maybe I missed that. Did Obasohan do that?

Obasohan is one of the best people you'll ever meet. Legitimately cool guy. Super involved with the University and also with his church in Tuscaloosa. Incredible dude.

He was also the most fun player on the court tonight- not the first time I've thought that of him nor the first (or 2nd or 3rd...) time I've thought Simmons wasn't.

Avery Johnson did in his press conference when being introduced as head coach

I saw your team had a nice win tonight too. Hopefully both state teams can get back to putting a quality product on the floor.

He is exceeding my expectations and he'll be getting some attention. I would think he'd like another crack at the NBA.
And I'm not naive about Bama's place in the NCAA basketball rankings, but should a "basketball school" come knocking but I would think we could pay him whatever to keep it from being about money.

thanks bro. completely agree with your post. us bama fans are giddy over what we're seeing. and it's playing out on the recruiting trail too. everybody likes the guy. feels good.
I kid you auburn fans but Pearl is kind of similar despite his troubles this year.

great player great dude
he draws a lot of comparisons to Pettaway but he's probably better on offense not as good on defense

I am still excited about Pearl and think we have a good one. I am hopeful he will stay a little while, but I have my doubts.

the athlete Pearl has gotten out of Bowers is crazy
Bowers is playing an entirely different type of basketball I didn't think he was capable of

This worries me also, but Bama does have a few things going for it. Money will never be a problem. If he keeps making the tournament and wants 4-5 million, we will pay him. If he demands a new facility, we will build it if he proves his product deserves it. If he keeps winning, fan support won't be a problem. It never has been for winning Bama basketball teams. And possibly most importantly, we were the first NCAA team to take him seriously and give him a shot. Basketball is not like football. Power 5 programs don't have a ceiling if the right coach is willing to stick it out and build a program.

Which is exactly why I said may be difficult. You can build something just about anywhere when the school is committed.
