I hope Brian at least got Deboer and Elko nice Father’s Day cards.

Pompous Yankees have always hated the southern schools. We took their coach and they can’t accept it because any team from the south must be inferior.

Did DeBoer get Father's Day cards for anyone?
Posted on 6/15/25 at 1:53 pm to SidewalkTiger
He didn’t give a card, he gave Dad an authenticate Tiger skin rug he picked up on a trip to Louisiana last year.
Posted on 6/15/25 at 1:55 pm to captdalton
Did he give it to Lea, Venables, Moore, or Fat Josh?

What do you do on Father’s day? You aren’t one and you don’t have one. It has to feel similar to an athiest at Christmas.

I took my Dad out for lunch after church.

Next year that will be Elko getting BK a Father's Day card because we're beating them in TS, they may own us in College Station but we own them at home

DeBoer won't get fired either after year 4 even if he has an 8-4 record. With NIL, coach buyouts will dwindle. The ones funding those 50 mil buyouts are also the ones funding the players.
Anywhere but Bama this might be true, but 8-4 in year 4 with zero playoff appearances will have us ready to burn things down. We might sell our soul to a PE firm or a Middle East country’s sovereign fund to not have to keep a coach who clearly can’t hack it.
Pretty sure every Bama coach we’ve had this century that actually coached a season won at least 10 games in a season, and that includes Dubose (although he did it in ‘99), Fran, and Shula. If DeBoer can’t reach that level in 4 years after taking over for the GOAT, “he gone.”

I am comparing apples to apples, each program's current buyout situation. From this point in time, forward, if Alabama or LSU decided to move on from DeBoer or Kelly, Alabama's buyout to fire DeBoer will always be higher than LSU's buyout to fire Kelly. DeBoer and Kelly would both be owed 90% of the remaining contracts.
Since you don’t think the year of the contract matters, how about we make a bet on who gets paid money to leave their school first, DeBoer or BK?
I would have given you an advantage by saying we could bet on who lasts longer based on years they stay at the school, but since you don’t think BK’s 2 year head start means anything than we can start from the present and just look going forward.

This might hold true to see Kelly coaches his last game as the LSU HC at the end of season next year.

WTF does this have to do with which program has the actual higher buyout as of today?
I'm not saying either one is more likely to be fired than the other.

Because it’s absolutely absurd to compare the buyout of a coach who just finished his first year with a coach who just finished his third, and use that buyout comparison to make a judgement on performance by saying “seems about right on the SEC hierarchy.” It shows you don’t understand how buyouts or contracts work.
If all that matters is the next year’s performance and the year of the contract doesn’t matter, than BK’s better SEC winning % that Sidewalk regularly posts and all the LSU fans’ assurances that DeBust is going to cause a rapid tDecline should be an easy opportunity for you to win a bet.

But that is all that matters related to a buyout, but we're getting off topic here.
I've got nothing against DeBoer and Alabama. My whole problem is with the initial article and sports media claiming Freeman is achieving some level Kelly didn't at Notre Dame, when they both reached the same level.

LSU fans have put more heart into this thread than Brian Kelly will put into this football season.

The point seems to keep sailing over you and crapdalton's heads.
No one is saying DeBoer is bad, it's just a dumb look for Bama fans to constantly trash Kelly when your guy has been no better.
No one is saying Freeman is bad, people are just saying that he's being overrated and hasn't actually accomplished anything more than Kelly.
This really isn't THAT HARD to understand.

Do you want me to link all of the LSU fans that have said Alabama is doomed? That they will go .500 or worse? I have a bet for you.
I bet I can find a post on this forum that says Deboer is some variant of bad. The standard $500 bet. If no one has said Deboer is some variant of bad then this is an automatic $500 for you.

I didn't mean literally "no one" said he was bad, I'm speaking of the main participants in this thread.
Of course there are people that say he's bad, there's people who say Heupel and Kiffin are bad which is ridiculous.

No. DeBoer won't get fired either after year 4 even if he has an 8-4 record. With NIL, coach buyouts will dwindle. The ones funding those 50 mil buyouts are also the ones funding the players.
Kelly beat Alabama with Saban, DeBoer beat UGA with Kirby. So you know they can do it, if you get the right tools. 8-4 is a sign you didn't get the right tools that year. Instead of firing them, you sit down with them, find out what (who) they need, and go about getting those guys. You no longer need sneaky bagmen, you need marketing to raise the cash openly, and you need marketing to sell the kid your program. That's not the coaching staff anymore. It's more economic developing, you need to convince businesses that it's in their best interest to get these kids to your school in some way. Maybe sell them the fact that happy fans spend more money buying cars, shite like that. For LSU, it's similar to promoting Mardi Gras, I would guess. Get everyone in the region to commit some, so the fanbase is coming and spending more money at their businesses.
