LSU should have been pumped to play any team. They have a chip on their shoulder after getting slaughtered last January. They should be out to make a statement with every opponent they face.

Bama, otoh, has had a target on their back ever since, and any/every team would love to knock them off. Michigan was pumped outta their gords last night for a shot at the champ, but they just couldn't hang with the Machine.

Bama definitely looked good, but, let's face it, Michigan is not a top 10 team. Hell, I'm not sure they're even a top 25 team.

this +100

people have kneejerk reactions. I said all along it was a terrible matchup for Michigan...they are good when they have more talent than teams....but they have no DL...and not much defense...and while that qb can run...it's not hard to shut down without the threat of pass. Michigan is way overrated...but they will still finish 9-3 because of the sorry big 10...just the way it is. People are overreacting way too much.

My big surprise was that LSU looked flat after getting embarrassed the last time they played. I thought they would destroy UNT. But, they looked complacent. Weird.

Next week, they will get tested. Hoping for more intensity.

Mich is easily a top 25 team and arguably a top 15 team. They won 11 games last year and the only major losses from last year to this year came from their DL. Robinson has the top 6 offensive games in school history.

No point in even arguing, though, you can't debate with internet 'experts' because no matter how badly team X wins or loses, the internet goobs will change their view on X's opponent to fit with what they want to believe.

"Michigan wasn't that good anyway."

Keep telling yourself that. Were you not one of the LSU fans that said Michigan would keep it close and possibly win?

I'm calling it right now. Based on what I saw last night, Bama repeats. They have not lost a beat with all their departing players imo.

I guess you forgot that there was a hurricane in Louisiana this past week that caused a practice to be cancelled.

Wierd that anyone would think that a hurricane that disrupts the game week prep would cause the team to look a bit flat.

Here is what I posted prior to the game in response to a 'nervous' thread started by ILoveLamp:

Oh, please. I predict 4 turnovers by Michigan. You guys win comfortably.

Sorry, but just because some team wins 11 games in a mediocre conference the previous year doesn't mean that said team is really that good.

Don't take this to mean that Bama isn't that good. It simply means what it means: Michigan isn't 'there' yet. Nowhere close, as was proven last night.

Look dude.......

LSU had 508 yards of total offense; 316 yards rushing; 2 RB's rush for over 100 yards; Had a 24-0 lead before Reid jumped a route and gave up a bad 80 yard TD 2 minutes before half-time. LSU rushed for an average of 6.9 yards per rush; Mett was 19/26 with 1 INT in his first career start.

Not that bad considering. LSU dominated a game against a not very good opponent after a week during a hurricane.

It wasn't that bad of a game. It wasn't great, but not bad. Nothing for us LSU fans to worry about.

btw, Bama QB's had 4 INT's in their first game last year and Bama did not look so sharp in their first game against Kent State last year. Didn't really matter to much on how you ended up, did it?

I am happy the game for LSU went the way it did. Especially all of the blitzing the UNT did against Mett. It will serve as a wake up for the LSU football team who really didn't take that game serious at all.

LSU had a total of 2 practices since last Saturday due to Isaac. They probably didn't install very much of a gameplan for UNT.

Eta: And still dominated both LOS, put up 508yds and got some young guys valuable playing time. I like that people are already starting to downplay LSU.

I think that we just saw a lackluster performance.

It might not stay that way as the season goes on.

LSU went up 21-0 right away and at the end of the first quarter had almost 150 yards to UNT's 20 or so. Complete domination. Then, after Mett got nailed, they backed off. Not sure why, but I do not expect that versus South Carolina or A&M or Arkansas, Florida, Auburn, or Alabama.

Didn't get to see the LSU game. So, I have no comparison
Well all you need to compare is that we played U. North Texas at home and only beat them by the same score you beat no. 8 Michigan on a neutral field. We looked average at best against very weak opponent and you guys ripped Michigan, the winningest program of all time. I will say this that as the season plays out it will be demonstrated that Michigan was overrated to start the season, but still they were no pushover and certainly North Texas doesn't compare. .

LSU had 2 fricking practices...2

And since when did all the past winning UM teams have jack shite relevance on that Pop Warner offense we saw last night?

Look, Bama was awesome, but it is a long season and shite happens. We'll see how it plays out.

DL? Maybe. OL, LSU needs to improve pass protection.

I'm with ya. September looks like manageable games that will give plenty of time to work out the things the club needs to.
