Y’all get too caught up on TV markets.
Yes it’s important but if you only took shitty teams in good markets you’d water down your product and end up hurting yourself. Clemson adds to the quality of the product.

I think you're right. But I also think Clemson needs the SEC more than the SEC needs Clemson.
Clemson has all the trappings of an SEC school, with the success of one lately, but the brand suffers mightily for not having a major market/conference/top tier rival.
I think being in the SEC will definitely help Clemson avoid dropping out of Tier 1 if they can't sustain CFP-level success after Dabo.

Also he says ESPN is trying to void their ACC deal - which makes no sense. It's a sweat heart deal for ESPN, they are woefully underpaying the ACC for their rights.
Does it really matter as ESPN controls both conference networks? Either way they get the rights wherever these schools end up. If they think they can make more money dropping the contract if those schools join the SEC why not.
In the end it will benefit the SEC more as the new media deals were based on the current SEC members and OU/Texas joining. Now they can renegotiate terms if new members are being added.

It matters if B1G gets them. Then ESPN loses them to Fox. I know for a fact that Fox would like them in the B1G.

Getting UNC & UVA would be worth having to put up with the other two.

Not sure what the point of saying that is. We don’t need Clemson necessarily.
I’m just saying people always post “why would add Clemson/FSU when we already have those markets?” Then they want to add programs like UVA and NC ST.
If Clemson is available, I take them.

Because VT is a knock off SEC school and UVA is UVA
I get your point, but I also see the appeal of having one of America's most prestigious public schools in the conference
Plus, you take what the B1G would want the most (UNC and UVA) knowing they're too snooty to try to counter it with schools "beneath them" like NC State and VA Tech.

It's just a comment really. I don't think Clemson is ambivalent or mixed, I think they'd be desperate to get into the SEC regardless of the ACC's outlook. I'm not sure the same is true for any of the others (Maybe FSU).
More so perhaps than any of the recent additions. Obviously it's a windfall for Missouri so perhaps a caveat there, but I don't think any school is missing an SEC-shaped puzzle piece like Clemson is. It's pretty much the last thing they need for long term high end sports viability unless they were magically transported to a state with a major city.

My guess is NCST or VA Tech. Not UVA, they are a better fit for B10

Hey, I met that guy. He's alright.

Charlottesville is awesome. One of the most beautiful campuses anywhere

No comment that the responses were calling the OP out on his "story"?

Florida State and Clemson (maybe even NCSU and VA Tech) are cultural fits. UNC, UVA, and Miami are not. But, Clemson really doesn’t bring a ton of value. You already have South Carolina in there which isn’t a very big state.

It is amusing that on Clemson fan forums they badly want to join the SEC. However, at the same time they routinely bash and insult SEC schools. Bama / UGA / USC / Vandy seem high on their list to bash.
They talk about their “nattys” and going toe-to-toe with the SEC’s best.
They also proclaim a “Clemson first” attitude and state that getting into the SEC is about the money.
Based on all of this, I fail to see how they are a good fit for the conference. I would think Clemson must bring in 80M-100M per year in added revenue just to be considered. Otherwise, they’re a financial drain on the other member schools.
UNC / UVa / Oklahoma St seem to be much better options if we need to expand.

I can see Virginia on the phones with both the SEC and big ten. It's not everyday you get to add the only #1 seed to ever lose to a 16 seed in the NCAA tournament lol.
If I was personally adding 4 to get to the 20 conference teams, I'd go FSU, UNC, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
Only if it ended up as some 24+ team mega conference would I then look at adding NC St, Clemson, Duke and Miami.

They fit better than the others we've added and are adding but I will say the same as before "the SEC is getting too fricking big." What good is it to add all these teams if it rips apart rivalries and traditions?

Wow this is rich! A South Carolina fan worried that someone else may be a “drain on the conference”!
