I have great respect for the school, and their fans are top notch classy in my experience. However, I find many of their traditions bizarre and creepy. And if it were up to me, the SEC should’ve picked schools from North Carolina and Virginia rather than Texas and Missouri.

ATm was like the auburn of the big 12.

Incredibly insulting to Auburn who has multiple top four finishes in major sports in the postwar era. A&M has... Johnny Manziel's Heisman. A&M had one Big 12 title in football, 1998; Auburn has three SEC titles since then

I have nothing against Mizzou but I would have preferred to see UT and A&M come into the conference together.

This too... way too many interesting rivalries lost in the shuffle. IMO, rivalries and traditions are what make college football.

We are 8-1 against them since they joined. 1 loss coming with a lot of unlikely shite to go their way plus 7 OT’s. How does that translate? I want tougher games that move the needle. Nobody outside of the direct A&M bubble gives two shits about them.

Texas has fans across the entire state and country many that have no affiliation with the university. Same goes for OU but on a much smaller scale obviously.

You sure do spend a lot of time posting about little ole Aggy to not give 2 shits about them. Lots of LSU fans in denial on what Jimbo is building in college station. SCARED

If you only watch the games on tv you could make the argument tu would be as good or a better fit. If you ever visit both stadiums you’d instantly realize who belongs in the SEC.

Ok and where’s the proof? What exactly has he done to make us scared? He had 1 fluke win against LSU that did not effect standings or bowl games, followed up that by losing 50-7 the following season, he has not played Bama close once, he’s 0-2 against Auburn, he is 2-8 against top ten teams since he came to A&M. No NY6 bowl wins or appearances, no top ten finishes. I don’t see anything here. I’m more concerned with Auburn in the west outside of Bama of course.

Texas doesn't want to be in a conference where they can't be kingpin. So definitely 'no' for fitting in the SEC

It’s tradition after you win the NCAs at Daytona you celebrate in the water.

This thread isn’t going the way OP hoped.

You would rather have added schools from states with a combined population that’s a third what it is from Tex/Mizz? It’s all about eyeballs and money...and the SEC hit it out of the park in the 2012 expansion.

Yeah, I agree. But do SEC fans care about that?

Oklahoma would have been a better addition. Much more storied team with cache. Aggy has been trying to find their fit since they were allowed in.

I live in Houston and nothing about the state of Texas says SEC. Arkansas is a better fit culturally.

Been to the Aggy campus for basketball and football games. Peeps are friendly and the campus is nice. There is a definitive , easily discernable difference between Longhorn and Aggy. I'm not an Austin Tx fan. Somehow college football is better when Aggy and UT are in the same conference. Right now UT is in nowhereville regarding their conference. It's kind of like USC and the Pac conference.

I think Aggy in the SEC is what it would be like if Florida went to the ACC. It would feel disjointed.

I think they are an outstanding addition to the SEC, with great traditions, great academics, and great fans

They were the miss. State of the SWC. Not really a headline grabber but they would jump up and bite you if you weren't paying attn. Kind of like Houston as a city, you dont really get excited about going there, and there's not as much to do as other cities with similar populations. Texas would have been the better program to get honestly but the aggys were a nice conciliation prize to get our foot in the state

It's as if they only have an issue with that 1 school.

WHEN was this phrase said by an LSU fan in the '90's?

This is true. But like I said, if we’re being hypothetical where money doesn’t matter. Let’s also say they aren’t so hard headed. They honestly should be independent like ND.

Wouldn't want Texas or TCU. I have absolutely no problem with Texas A&M. I actually like them.
