Dad didn’t show his arse. He gave alabama and Saban respect and told his kid how it is. If Jalen wants to be the starting QB then he may have to go elesewhere if he doesn’t win the job. Besides how much worse can it get than the receivers throwing their hands up in disgust every time he drops back.

Awwwww. Sorry that this thread didn't meet your standards for non pathetic threads. Fact of the matter is, players read and know about Daddys.

Players don't give a shite about what a dad said. You're one of those morons that'll find any reason to dog a kid that has been nothing but dedication and class.

This isn't necessarily true. Saban will handle this adroitly because he's Nick Saban. But don't think that Guarantano's dad didn't cause some problems in the Tennessee locker room last year.

I'm sorry George, but LA is speaking truth. Jalen's dad made a crucial mistake when he gave an ultimatum. In essence he is saying, "Jalen is more important than the team."

Now, all you guys can through doodoo at people who have a different point of view (which is why I hate the Bama board in spite of its many strengths) but LA is stating what to me was obvious as soon as I read what his dad said.

One of our esteemed posters here posted these thoughts on the Woolly and he is SPOT ON

quote:

Just a shame that his dad had to put that out in the media. In the big picture Jalen has been an absolute class act in every way possible... Just done everything right in terms of showing maturity and doing his best. For his dad to bring that reputation into question, at least in my eyes he did, is super disappointing. I'm sure Jalen is not happy to have this type of attention right now. On the other hand... Tua's injury couldn't have come at a better time (pun intended). This almost ensures that Saban won't be able to rule Hurts out as a starter going into fall camp and at that point it will be too late for Jalen to head elsewhere. Especially considering my opinion from the first day of the offseason that he's going to find Jalen snaps regardless of how good Tua is... Which I believe will ultimately keep Jalen happy enough through the year until he can leave for his senior season. I genuinely believe that Bama fans should want Jalen to stay because he would be a tremendous insurace policy and potentially a nice piece of the every week game plan. Would give the D so much more to worry about with his running ability. I also think he brings leadership and an overall class that rubs off on other guys. If he does decide to leave, there would be some positives as well. Tua not looking over his shoulder and more importantly almost a guarantee little bro comes on board. Mac probably not ready for the limelight this year if Tua gets hurt, but hell the offense was non existent for much of the last 2 years of the playoffs anyways. He seems like a competent QB and at least has a year under his belt on campus. Bottom line - Dads, even coaching dads, just don't ever see things objectively. Such a shame he chimed into the media, but the damage is done. I hope he stays but if he goes we will be bad arse anyway. RTR

I think Averion is trying to force a breakup the same way a father would do if he saw his son involved in a relationship with a girl who wasn’t right for him.

Guy is a high school coach and can see objectively how this is going to play out barring major injury.

Jalen is too much of a competitor to just quit and in fighting what is almost certainly a losing battle will watch an entire year of eligibility go up in smoke.

Tua getting a minor injury will postpone him being named starter and makes the situation even worse.

The entire Hurts family has been nothing but class from the beginning as far as I’m aware and this happening now so publicly to me is a clear sign that it’s just Averion trying to pull a bandaid all at once instead of watching it drag out slowly over a full year.
