That's purely idiotic- no way.

When Bert goes 0-8 or 1-7 will the fans still support him or will it take him exceeding expecatations and going 2-6 in conference for the fans to support him?

I'm not a fortune teller so I can't say for sure. I hope we exceed expectations but after 2 years of being pretty horrible I'm reluctant to give any predictions at all. I do think he's trying to build something here and I'll be ok as long as I see progress and nothing just outrageously bad or stupid- but I can't speak for everyone else.

A. I think we are going to win a couple of conference games this year.

B. If there is continued evidence of progress in building his team, I will support him. Even in the season record of last year, there was much visible improvement as the season went along.

That's bar none one of the dumbest things I've read on here in nearly 7 years. An Arky site did a bracket with h2h votes of the biggest villians to the Arkansas program and Petrino beat Texas in the finals taking almost 70% of the vote.

The disgust for Petrino is only getting worse here, we're not forgiving or forgetting.

How so?

He says he doesn't take transfers with legal issues. Are you going to criticize him for that?

I'm really not going to get involved in this whale of a thread, but the first thing that strikes me is...Bielema should make a note and take the high road when answering questions or making comments right now. He's not in the position to make any remarks that could be perceived as being smartass. His focus should be winning games. He's not in the position to thrust himself into drama. When he starts gaining traction via winning games he can come out & make comments like this.

Stone, his statement sets him up for criticism when he gets current players who make mistakes as well. As soon as someone is caught with drugs, does he send them packing? They obviously are not the type players he wants. Right?

Im not totally against his stance. I am just saying that he did not gain a thing by putting it out there like he did

People talk about second chances, am I right this is his fourth? What really kills me is the resident corndog talking about this second chance being deserved, when Honey Badger got kicked off for less. Whether it's Pinkel or Les, what's the difference?

Hasn't happened here, and I'm sure he will.

Better to have it out there and understood what will not be tolerated.

Bret's actually a decent person, not some mega-churching, fake-as-frick cheating a-hole.

hmm, I wonder what SEC coaches fit your description of what bert isn't

Like I said, Bielema's players from Wiscy were impressive young men when interviewed upon his hiring here. It made an impression on me. I like to think we are bringing in the same caliber of people.

I can tell a difference in the recruits bert is bringing in. they all seem well spoken with their heads on straight and priorities right

I'm sure there's other SEC teams that wish they could say the same about the players they are letting on their team

So a kid makes a mistake and doesn't deserve a second chance? What a douche. Most of these kids come from poor families and backgrounds, not all will be saints when they step on campus. Obviously it depends on the transgression, but if he really feels that way, I feel bad for Arky recruiting.

Not what Bret said. He looks at each possible transfer and researches their background. He has a line (illegal drugs, crime) that is a 'do not pass' line to accept a transfer. He's not denying them a second chance, just saying the chance is not going to be at Arkansas. Plenty of Auburns out there for them to go to.

right he should hang his head and keep quiet, instead of sticking to his guns and going out on his terms.

I for one would rather have a coach with a backbone that will stick to his guns, even when his job is on the line

Bert answers the questions when asked.

He gives his answers to the questions, not generic coach speak.

quote:

He's not in the position to make any call.

He is the HC, it is his call as too what players are allowed to be on his team and what the reasons may be to turn down a transfer.

quote:

His focus should be winning games.

Its July, during the dead period.

quote:

He's not in the position to thrust himself into drama.

What drama? Other coaches may take guys kicked of other teams for committing crimes, but Bert will not.

How is that dramatic? How does his comments on this offend anyone unless the truth does not relate to the reality trying to be portrayed...
