I think he could have turned it down if Oklahoma wasn't coming to the SEC as he has a much easier path in the Big 12.

There is no one on this board that would not take $10-12M vs $7M regardless of the situation. If your employer offered $3M+ a year to move to Siberia you would do it. Think about it folks. Give me one reason he would say no?
Because Sexton is his agent, and OU will come close to matching.

If Jimmy Sexton's his agent, Okie better start reaching for their checkbook!
Sexton is agent king in the SEC but Riley's
agent, Bob LaMonte, is THE power agent
for NFL coaches and general managers. LaMonte had
Riley's name being tossed about for Philadelphia
Eagles head coach position.
Bob's the one on the right.

$7M is still alot of money. I could do a lot with 7.

With what has gone down w Texas the last two coaching decisions, I predict OU won't waste time giving LR a raise and keep him in Norman. Coming into the SEC with a solid base is way more important than being frugal.
LSU should turn their attention back to Aranda. IMO, he's the best candidate and for for Baton Rouge anyway. He is as professional and passionate as they come.

It seems like Oklahoma should be able to match anything LSU offers.

I think Aranda would be a great hire for them. He was one of the best DC in the game and has done a good job at Baylor. Not sure they could realistically do better.

Also, word is Woodward is even willing to go up to 15 million. You’re talking about doubling his salary. Does seem like a no-brainer if Oklahoma isn’t willing to go that high. Which I don’t think they will.

I will say that Jimbo's statements about not being interested have been far more effusive than Riley's.
Likely because if SW is all in on Riley, no offer has been extended to Jimbo, so of course he’s going to take the approach he did.
Of all the white noise surrounding this search, the one consistent point has been Riley is SW’s number one.

From what their fans have said, it’s not about can they, it’s about will they.

He is not coming to LSU.
Fisher is not wanted by LSU nor is he wanting LSU so he is out.
Aranda is a possibility but the USC thing has thrown a wrench in that.
As these typically go all the rumor and internet board stuff is always wrong. It will be someone few are talking about. LSU fans may be let down. The buffoons on the rant will make false posts about how "All these coaches turned LSU down" like Jimbo, Riley etc and the cycle will repeat on the next coaching search...

I don't blame you. Why go to Fred's Burger Bar for $14 an hour an hour, when McDonalds not only pays $7 an hour but gives you those neat uniforms at no charge.
Wise choice. btw what year did you graduate from LSU?

Why does LSU even want Riley. He gets blasted nearly every time he has to play a team with comparable talent

I wouldn’t think so. They are looking at having to pay a huge buyout to the big XII to leave early and they don’t have SEC money yet.
Chesapeake was the big oil company up there and they went bankrupt so I don’t know if they can even tap in to big oil money.

Also throw in the fact that he will have a better chance at winning a Natty at LSU it is a no brainer. He is leaving imo.
Yes
I don’t know why most people don’t see the obvious
OU has very little chance of making a four team playoff from the SEC
At best
OU will be the fourth best team in the SEC

If LSU pays 15M for Riley then they are a special kind of stupid
