I pay $148.24 a month for these plans...

DirecTV Stream - $97.41/month (I get Rockets, Astros, SEC, all ESPN's, pretty much all Sports, plus all the channels the Wife wants) I share this account with two other families that can watch it for free. Unlimited Hours of Cloud DVR, Unlimited Streams

Xfinity Internet - $50.83/month (1,200 Mbps and unlimited data) very reliable and fast

MAX - Free through AT&T
Prime Video - Free piggybacking off relative
Disney+ - Free piggybacking off relative
ESPN+ - Free piggybacking off relative
HULU+ - Free piggybacking off relative
Netflix - Free piggybacking off relative

I'm probably still paying way to much. The reason I didn't go with YouTubeTV is I couldn't get all the games for the Astros. Astros are Kings of MLB right now. With that being said, I don't really watch much TV.

I just switched. Dumped Spectrum for internet and cable. Went with another local company for internet (Wow) 1 Gig for 55 month. Got Sling for 58. More channels, faster internet and saving about 80 a month. I did need to upgrade my wireless router....Walmart 68.00

I agree...but my Daughter can watch DirecTV Stream at her house without paying, brother in law can watch DirecTV Stream at his Barndominium without paying, as well as me at my house.

Yep, Disney is using the anger of SEC fans to hold them hostage.

I think you are overthinking it a bit.

Disney stock is at a 10 year low, they are facing a new multi-million dollar lawsuit every other day and are on the hook for about 20 billion to buy Hulu next year that they don't have.

They need cash yesterday and are jacking their prices up on EVERYBODY.

Just got a notice today that Hulu is raising their prices 10% and I’ve only had this package since the Florida-Utah game.

This isn’t sustainable.

Spectrum is choosing this as much as ESPN.

Honestly - your local cable provider is moving to your internet provider, and you'll pick your services. I'm in Spectrum's footprint. I buy land-based cable and stream. No blocking of any of the services for me.

Instead of ala cart cable, you'll pick streaming services. We have too many. I'd be fine with HULU and nothing else.

Neither of them really let you just subscribe to Internet service alone. You CAN, but they jack the price up if you don't also subscribe to TV.

Comcast Internet is reasonably priced in Houston as a standalone service.

You can also buy AT&T fiber from a third party vendor such as Toast without having to deal with AT&T's bait and switch deals or their lousy, bulky website.

The sweet spot would be for one of these streaming TV providers to just sell local channels, Disney and Fox networks as a package. I don't need Bravo, Cartoon Network, TNT, History Channel, and a slew of non-sports networks that come with it.

I agree. It'll be on the backbone of somebody providing a physical "cable" to connect me to the internet. For now, that's Spectrum. And probably will remain as Spectrum, until some wireless solution involving a DISH sized thing that doesn't stop during a thunderstorm.

And I'm with you on smaller choices. I watch less than a dozen channels. And watch ESPN less and less all the time. HULU seems to satisfy all my watching choices.

Spectrum is choosing this as much as ESPN. Almost everyone else chose to work things out. Spectrum has done a lousy job compared to other services anyway. I didn't think anyone could make Comcast look good but Spectrum sure has.

All these cable providers aren’t on the same contract schedule. Some of them signed a contract years ago that won’t be up for several years down the line. You can’t compare a contract being negotiated today to one negotiated years ago because the cable/streaming landscape is completely different. Money was free flowing a few years ago. Today these streaming services and entertainment groups are doing everything to cut costs.

I enjoy Charter's internet but never really cared for their cable boxes. Always with the WEA weather alerts don't affect my county at all THAT YOU CANNOT DISMISS.

Good riddance tbh.
