With only 2 games left, plus conference championships, there are NINE P5 schools with only 1 loss.

Is this normal? It seems to me like there are a lot more 1 loss teams than usual this year.

Some of them will work themselves out like OSU, Michigan, and Michigan St.

But what do you do with a 1-loss Wake Forest team? I mean the ACC is a power 5 conference. Oklahoma and OK St. are both 1-loss teams from the Big 12.

If Alabama beats Georgia we could end up with a total mess at the end of the year, and then there are a ton of people who seemingly want to throw Cincinnatti in the playoff just because they're undefeated.

If Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Wake Forest, OSU, Oregon, and Notre Dame all have 1 loss, plus an undefeated Cincinnati, who gets in?

Honestly thats one of the easier scenarios the committee could find itself in

Take wf, ok, and ND out of the equation.

The Big 10 and Big 12 scheduling caused some of this.

Easy answer - Georgia, Bama, OSU and Oregon.

I think a 1 loss Big 12 champ is next in the pecking order followed by undefeated Cincy and 1 loss ND. If the Big 12 has some more upsets Cincy might have a chance to hold off their 1 loss champ.

You know who else is undefeated and ranked?

UTSA.

With wins over such Sagarin powerhouses as Lamar (231), Middle Tennessee (108), UNLV (115), Rice (155), Louisiana Tech (112), UTEP (131), and Southern Miss (173).

Without schedule parity across CFB, rankings based solely on records is a farce.

I don’t think it’s particularly hard but it will cause a great deal of consternation.

This season is what the 12 team playoff proponents want. It's inevitable now. So, with 12 reg season games, a CG and a 12 team bracket, 8 of the 12 are staring a potential 17 game college football season in the face. That's pretty insane IYAM.

All under the guise of a 'true champion' when the real reason is using kids to make 100s of millions more.

Yep they saw an 8 game playoff wasn't going to jack the money up much due to the bowls already existing now.

If Alabama blows out Georgia then

This is why we need an 8 team playoff

It is simple for Alabama, they win out they are in. If they lose they are out. UGA can lose a game.

It will all sort itself out.

In 2019, there were 3 undefeated P5 teams and 8 1-loss teams through 10 games.

Somehow it always shakes out to a clear 1-3, with 4&5 being a very contentious spot., and 6-10 not even relevant to the conversation unless you suffer from delusion.

Legit teams still have 3 games left as of today.

Half the population of the USA and 35% of the world is catholic. No way will the committee take N.D. out of the equation if their only loss of the season was to an undefeated Cincinnati team!

Fair? No! But, oh so real!

So that teams like UTSA can get in?

With a 12 team playoff, they would just need to cancel 2 cupcake games and have a 10 game regular season.

Then the conferences that need it most need to make sure they aren't the ones gumming up the works. The threat of doing just that is coming from these guys because they fear the new dynamics of the 16 team SEC. Fear may simply be too kind for what these folks fear most.

You aren't gonna hurt the big boy on the block with this nonsense of blocking 12 team playoff without the B1G, big 12, ACC, Pac 12 cutting off their nose to spite their face.

That very well could be the case, but the fallout would be higher than ever given the 2 x on the field prior results featured among the 4. Leaving out an undefeated team, ND and 2 x P5 1 Loss champs is not going to be an easy decision.

A P5 Conf champ has never been left out for a non-conf champ if the L records were the same. ND with no Conf champ, Cincy as a G5, 1 loss Wake Conf Champ, 1 loss OU/OKIE Lite, plus a potential 1 loss UGA non-conf champ who had distanced themselves from the field for 3/4s of the season will be anything but simple for the CFP committee.

A 1 loss or better SEC and B1G champ are the only guarantees. The remaining spots would be as contentious as ever in the presented scenario

Honestly, I hope it comes to be for interest, controversy and the melting sake alone.
