If you notice the pattern during Sabans 3 non winning seasons at LSU was poor QB play.
He had Booty in 2000 who had 19 touchdowns and 17 INT while only completing 50% of his passes.
Then in 2002 our starter went down and Marcus Randall came in. He finished with 7 touchdowns 5 INT and 48% complete passes.
IN 2005 you remember musical QB's as Randall, Flynn, and Russell all played that season. Between the 3 they finished with 19 Touchdowns 10 INT and 51.2% complete passes.
So the pattern is with poor QB Sabans teams can only win 8 or 9 games. I think I would take that when the QB is poor.

Nick Saban is a great coack blah blah blah.
It depends how one defines greatness.
One that will tell any lie that suits his agenda and denegrates those that he feels are not as important as they feel they are, is not a great person.
Most tiger fans that truly knew Mr. Saban, knew that he was a horses butt, we just tolerated him because he won games.
Honesty and integrity are the measure of a great person, no matter if you are a head coach or a custodial engineer.
Just Sayin

FWIW Only 9 players that were signed by Shula are currently starters, the rest are Saban's...

Your exactly right, you can make this case for just about every HC in the country!

If it was all poor QB play, then you could say the same about Les last year...why have I decided to participate in this...so stupid. Everyone Get OUT! RUN!

Not really, I think last year was one of Les's best seasons coaching considering everything that went wrong and they still won 8. To stay afloat even with piss poor QB shows how good a coach one can actually be.
Each team could have tanked including LSU last year and instead they stayed afloat and rebounded the following year once QB position was settled.

For Saban you could say it was
in 2000 his first year defense was #46 similar to LSU last season.
In 2002 his defense was #8
In 2005 his defense was #3
Mark of a good coach in not tanking the season but keeping it alive when things are bleak.

Bama fans will soon discover that there is no perfection. that will be difficult to take. saban probably will win an SEC championship at Bama but there is no guarantee. They think they are "destined" to win a NC. If they don't, the whole state may implode.

My only beef is LSU fans believe Saban can not win at Bama. Hell people were probably saying same thing about him coming to LSU. Bama has history, a good base for recruiting, and they are in the right conference. As LSU has proven twice you just need to right breaks to play for a NC and then anything can happen.
I believe he can win one at Bama and I think he will eventually win one. Saban has proved himself a good coach, he has won at a few different schools. Bama fans have every right to feel destined to win a NC just like LSU fans feel destined to win another one in next 5 years.

National championships are extremely difficult to achieve. I want them, we all do... of course... but what I expect is to have a real team. One that OTHER teams hate playing because they know they're gonna get our best shot every time.

Well, I disagree.. did you see any of our games? Did you see the Defense?
Look it, LSU is loaded with talent regardless with what Bama fans think about Miles. LSU doesn't need an awesome QB to be top 10, we just need them to not throw to the other team.
Saban's players are gone ,but the team is stacked, at least on paper, LSU has more HS all Americans than it ever has ever had..
Our Defense was awful due to poor coaching. That's on Les! But to his credit, he addressed the issue head on, and with great class.
The QB thing was a disaster..but I think JJ will be pretty good by mid season.
BTW: ESPN has wasted no time declaring Jr BAMA QB Mcelroy the 2nd coming... He has had how many starts? Matt Flynn never got that kind of pup, and he was a 5th year senior with some starts

Nick Saban
has never had back to back 10 win seasons.
Miles has done it 3 times in a row
Miles > Saban
Saban had never went undefeated in regular season before he was at Bama.
Bama > LSU
See how that works?
