Comparing college football and LSU vs any other program from 22 years ago is pretty stupid. I realize Saban pulled Kiffin and others out of the ditch and that's admirable but things just aren't the same.

Alabama with their rabid fans and incestuous tendencies is probably a 3rd tier job now.

Then why did he bolt on Lsu to go to Alabama?

He left LSU to take the job as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

A year later, the Miami Dolphins made an awful choice. Their medical team flagged Drew Brees and said he wouldnt recover well from his torn Labrum. They thought Daunte Culpepper would, however, recover from his ACL, MCL, and PCL tear. The Dolphins signed Daunte Culpepper and the New Orleans Saints signed Drew Brees. Culpepper went on to play in 4 games for the Dolphins with a 1-3 record and his knee never fully recovered. Drew Brees went on to become a Saints legend and lead them to a Superbowl win while playing for 15 seasons in New Orleans.

Saban never recovered from that franchise altering decision and took the job from Alabama when they came calling.

In 5 seasons in Baton Rouge, Nick Saban had 4 seasons with 3 or more losses.

In 17 seasons in Tuscaloosa, Nick Saban had 2 seasons with 3 or more losses.

Alabama Nick Saban broke the LSU fanbase.

A Natty with Miles in 2007 and a win over NS in 2011? Granted, it was all down hill with Miles after that NC Game. Hats off to NS in that game.

That's not comparing apples to apples you dumbass.. that's comparing the best HC job available in 2025 and you know damn well that's what he meant

No, no no, clearly he meant Best Job ever in the history of college football and best job ever in the future of college football.

NFLSU, probably (but he's a sort of retarded, so there's that).

Saban always said later on that his one regrettable mistake was leaving LSU.

Possibly.

However, those trophies are still at Alabama.
