Wrong. Most tickets you pay money and it is gone. Not this one.

A ticket? It is a piece of paper saying you will go to court. A ticket?

So let's see:

Traffic citation - Adjudicated by traffic or misdemeanor court, can usually pay early to avoid appearance, usually released at the scene.

This citation - To be adjudicated by misdemeanor court, can pay early to avoid appearance, released at scene.

Holder said Marshall was cited for a window-tint violation and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana -- a violation of a city ordinance. According to the Associated Press, it was under the passenger side visor.

He was not arrested, the chief said.

Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall was cited in Reynolds, Georgia, on Friday for possession of marijuana of less than one ounce, according to Reynolds police chief Lonnie Holder.

Marshall was not arrested.

Marshall, the returning quarterback who was supposed to be part of Auburn's SEC Media Days contingent on Monday, was pulled over due to a possible window tinting violation at 12:45 p.m. on Highway 96 in Reynolds.

According to Holder, the officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the car, and upon search of the vehicle, police found "8-or-9" grams of marijuana, which is less than an ounce.

Marshall was cited for misdemeanor marijuana possession and a window tint violation.

He has a court date set for 10 a.m. on Sept. 10, 2014, but will not have to attend that date if he pays the fines associated with the citations. A misdemeanor marijuana possession carries a $1,000 fine, and the window tint is $100.

No i am correct. Every ticket is release for court. You pay the fine to skip going to court by pleading guilty and paying.

Curious how a poor country QB will pay $1100 out of pocket?

Do you think you can pay the fine if arrested and not appear in court? This will give you your answer of if it is the same.

He was released with his ticket, just like every other ticket. Not sure why this is so hard to understand.

What are you talking about. He is going to pay the fine and not appear. This is not an arrest that requires arraignment or initial appearance.

This guy...he was arrested.

21 year old Jarran Kentrel Reed, a defensive lineman, collided with the other car but then drove off towards the exit of the parking lot. Officers stopped Reed and immediately smelled the odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. After a field sobriety test officers placed Reed under arrest for driving under the influence. His blood alcohol level was 0.13% .

In many jurisdictions you can lawfully be arrested and booked for routine traffic violations. However, for the sake of judicial efficiency, officers can and do simply issue citations and release the person. In Georgia(and many other jurisdictions), they allow this same procedure for minor marijuana possession charges.

Do you guys really think going to jail for a few hours is the real consequence of being arrested?
