Nah. It happened. Texas embarrassed the eventual “champion” so badly on their own field that they didn’t need to play any other teams in the league to be crowned the SEC’s best team and champion of 2023

And yet they didn't finish ahead of all SEC teams in all of the final college football polls.

Apparently the coaches didn't feel like Texas did enough to prove they were better than all the other SEC teams.

just don’t get ADs. Paying them more does not make them a better coach and no one is trying to hire them right now. Bidding against themselves

While I don’t disagree, there are actually only a few coaches with the caliber to compete at an elite level.

Texas has an abundance of resources and more money than God himself, and they’ve still not sniffed a title game since 2008 (until 2023 of course)

Hindsight is easy (think Orgeron extension) but when you have momentum with a coach, I understand wanting to lock them down. Coaching searches are a crapshoot.

Final AP Poll

No, just in the one that matters.

So Washington won the big12?

Your point is ignorant.

THey both award separate championship trophies.

Neither matters for making the playoff. Both matter equally in terms of ranking after the season is over.

The press thought Texas was better than the other SEC teams. The coaches disagreed.

Coaches poll

Texas has to out talent its opponents they can never outcoach.

We had our worst roster ever in like 20 years and still made a title, Texas has to rely on star power.

Final rankings in the AP poll don't matter in the least.

It's basically a moral victory.

Who can't forget the Aggies crowing about "finishing 4th" in 2020?

Must be a Texas thing.

We were happy they bumped us ahead of ND bc we thought we should have been in over them. And I do remember Kelly crying about it as well. Guess it meant something to your head coach at that time.

Yup. Just the majority of them (including the AP and CFP poll). So, it’s Texas’ Fault they didn’t get to play FSU’s 4th teamers?

But the AP writers that watch the games and the CFP committee that decides who plays in the most important games did
