I remember when they granted an LSU basketball player immunity.

They told him "tell us something." So he lied. LSU got hammered, and he later revealed he made it all up so he could transfer to Kansas and be eligible immediately.

To this day Lester Earl isn't allowed(ok not really) in the State.

The NCAA is going down a slippery slope if they are pulling those strings again. Those that think lawsuits can't come of it are fools.

The NCAA is getting desperate - they should interview every team Ole Miss has beaten in the last 5 years while they're at it.

Is "Ole Miss butthurt" a good enough citation for the ruling in 2034? We shall see...

The NCAA gave immunity to some ole miss recruits back in Jackie's fiasco

Don't remember that happening at all...but it might have happened.

This is the definition of a witch hunt though.

Waiting for the hammer to come down on Ole Miss is like being a kid in school waiting for summer break to get here. You know it's coming, it just can't get here fast enough. You lie in bed at night thinking about what all you'll do in your exaltation: skipping down the sidewalk merrily, running through the sprinkle naked, having the neighbor's dog lick peanut butter off your nipples through the fence...I can't wait!

Can't see any reason for recruits to lie about their recruitment

You really think they are just going to make stuff up. Most recruits have very close relationships with the staff of schools they chose not to go to. I don't even know why one would be so paranoid to think that....I guarantee there is plenty of evidence already that substantiates illicit activity. Now they are just trying to understand the scope.

Of course we are scared. Worst case scenario is that our program gets wrecked.
That doesn't mean it will be the worst case but anyone would be anxious.

On the flipside, that's how they started putting the screws to Louisville recently. Antonio Blakeney at LSU and Jaquan Lyle at Ohio State both spoke to the NCAA with the condition of immunity. So they're still doing it without much repercussion.

The way I look at it with the NCAA granting immunity is getting the truth. All they have to do is tell these kids that tell us everything and you're fine. But, if you lie and we find something down the road that you lied about or failed mention and we'll hold you accountable. These kids are stuck between a rock and a hard place. So their only option is to sing like a bird.

Why would any player speak to the NCAA if the weren't granted immunity? Seems obvious, not shady.

No....their main option is to just decline a comment on the matter.

Truth there. Forde and Yahoo are notorious for spreading rumors to sell there product. All of media do now. It's pathetic really. If Ole Miss cheated take some schollies put em on probation for 2 or 3 years and be done. This shite is getting old.

nder that assumption, you'd have to also believe that every single player playing in the NCAA was bought and paid for, and the only way they signed where they did was because team A offered more than team B.

You could easily assume that 50% of the players in the NCAA are taking money instead of 100%. And that most of the 50% went to the highest bidder. Not sure why you have to believe that every single player playing was bought and paid for.

If you are a scholarship player you have to talk to the NCAA. you may not have to tell the truth but you have to speak to them. That's where immunity comes in. Gives the kids a chance to protect themselves and it gives the NCAA what they want.
