And to think Mississippi State was forced to forfeit 19 wins and 2 ties (1975-1977) because a football player got a 15% discount at a clothing store in Starkvegas that was available to ALL STUDENTS.

And today this is where we are.

Honestly they need to restore all the forfeits and vacated wins over the years to the result that happened on the field.

Lay out the path for the NCAA to take control of the FBS College Football Playoff. Are you 20 years old?

All of the participants are member institutions and could simply decide to.

That was easy

Let it burn. We have to start over from scratch. It’s gonna get worse before it gets better.

I think that’s where we’re at right now.

Possible, maybe probable, future:

— Exxon Fighting Tigers Vs. Wal-Mart Razorbacks played at Burrow-Daniel’s Stadium in Baton Rouge.

— LSU vs. Alabama for SEC 7-on-7 Club title at Olympia Field in Baton Rouge.

— NFL agrees to draft high school seniors and some pro-ready juniors.

— NFL mandates mushroom caps for all positions.

— SEC Women’s Flag Football MVP Ronald Mbuka sues fledgling Neo-NCAA to compete in both men’s and women’s sports simultaneously.

— A&M, Texas and Oregon QB becomes first player to win a title on three teams in same season.

So why isn’t that happening? Why hasn’t it happened?

Lay out the path.

It all started with TV and big time college football. This book, released in 2004, explains it really well.

But I fully realize reading books about pre-2000 history is no longer considered a worthy venture.

Kris Kristofferson said you can’t beat the devil.

………………………….

But, but…….muh NCAA…..muh member institutions. We do what we want because we’re members and shite!! We can fix this at any time!!!

I hope the NFL doesn’t think they are immune to the rot in college football today. Much more entitled players are headed your way.

“college” football is dead, dead and gone, forget about it

Nah, it’s just trying to find its feet after some landmark rulings.

It will get fixed. It’s just going to take some time.

How: no idea

Why: the money.

Trying to research the amount of money generated is nearly impossible. I found annual estimates from $3.3 billion to $15 billion (the latter including all college athletics I think). Networks/conferences/universities are not going to just shrug their shoulders and say “well shite, there’s nothing we can do” and watch that cash cow crash and burn.

CFB is now the Wild West compared to pro sports. A solution, however imperfect, will be reached. It will have to somehow continue to tie the sport to the universities for the strong allegiance aspect while incorporating some rules and guardrails found in pro sports.

Will it be “college” football? No, not as we traditionally have known it, but it will retain enough college flavor to keep people watching. Way too much money at stake for it to fail!

TV created the interest in college football. There are far more “sidewalk” fans of the sport than alumni for every team.

The transfer portal is the biggest issue with Power 4 football. You could not maintain an active NFL roster of 53 players with the current setup.

I won’t call people names that are obviously too naïve to understand the current situation.

But we are certainly all NCAA members. All equal in the NCAA country club.

We quite literally have answered this exact post already.

If the NCAA wanted to create a playoff, then they would have. They didn’t. You’re trying to come off as being the smart one but you’re being a fricking idiot about it

Is academic advancement even a concern for the athletic departments now? I doubt it. If they need a player they’ll admit him.

A team in the playoffs could recruit a couple stars late to help them win it

Always felt there should only be one: either NIL or the Portal. The 2 together would be the end. Never thought that NIL would be the lesser of 2 evils.

With players" taking "Online classes", who is to say they will not complete their semester early, change majors etc from Chicken Science to Finance to qualify to transfer to another school early? Schools with deep pockets shall rule until this is changed.

Play for a different team each week

I want to see a guy play “all time QB for both teams” like at the park when you have 11 guys instead of 12.

Or maybe transfer at halftime.
Or during a play.
