Again, they are trying to grow the game. Didnt Purdue win the B1G? You dont think that has any pull at all?

So punishing a non-traditional baseball school, in the northern part of the conference, is growing the game?

Purdue may have bid on the site based on the stadium in Gary. Do we know that UK bid on it with the other park your mentioned or on the on campus one?

We don't but the city of Lexington would've had no issue with doing so if that was established as a deciding factor.

And even if UK bid with their home facility, while small by SEC standards, it is comparable to other facilities hosting.

A lot of regional hosting is about ballpark. UVA has a fantastic ballpark in a great college town.

Except y'all are stuck in the 80s with no tv. They wouldnt let rebel vision come in and broadcast our last regional there.

for purposes of this discussion, sec is sec.

then my guess is UK should bid using that other stadium next time.

This is where an attendance of 1800 will hurt you. It really doesn't matter though kentuckys going to host someone else's regional anyway.

Problem is the NCAA does a poor job of communicating that by allowing other small stadiums to host.

Then it is a SEC bias. Let's call it at such.

Go back to the bats before these, not even the 90's bats, but at least the ones before these new boring as hell bats. We all miss the long-ball

Screw this shite! The new bats make it baseball again. No more hitting one off the sweet spot and it still go out. The ball still travels off of the bbcor bats if you hit it right.

its not a single issue. its a collection.
purdue won its tourney, has a reasonable record, and is bidding with a nice stadium. it also helps they are out of the traditional ncaa baseball zone.

miami has a stadium larger than UKs, significantly more prestige, and made the finals of their conf tourney.

if it came down to UK vs either of those, its not a slap in the face that UK lost out.

As just mentioned Miami, outside of venturing across the state to play Florida barely played away from home.
They didn't even do that. We went to Miami and swept them there. Also swept FSU. Both teams didn't look that impressive

SEC was much better than ACC honestly. Kentucky got $crewed.

Miami

At 36-20 they get to host a regional from the acc. At 36-20 from the far superior sec LSU gets completely left out of the Tourny last year. :committeehatesthesec:

It absolutely is. The NCAA is talking out of both sides of its mouth by saying they want to expand the tournament by denying a non-traditional team with the record to back it up the opportunity to host. UK could've hosted in a 6,000+ stadium in a nice city in a "northern" location in comparison to some of the other schools selected. Even our small stadium is comparable to others hosting.

I would view it as an effort by the ncaa to grow the game. The outcomes are the same but the intent isnt to specifically hurt the sec.

If that is the case, then they have failed miserably by giving the state of Florida 3 regionals...especially when the third is easily the most controversial. You give a regional to a team that finished 5th in the ACC and with a total of 36 wins a regional in a state that already has two. Yet the NCAA Committee Chairman claims they are spreading across geographical regions.

UK got screwed...and MSU deserved it more so than Miami.

I fully expect the screw job to be complete when we get named a #1 and shipped to Arizona instead of Miami or Purdue.

Purdue will be a 1 seed. They are top 15 and won reg season and conference tourney.

Their region will probably be:
Purdue
MU
Winner of OVC
Creighton

Yea I remember that. Ricky Weeks played in that regional, went deep a couple times. That's the only time Usm has hosted.

I wonder how much it has to do with national seed pairings have to do with this. Pairing up UF/FSU with Miami for better / more appealing match-ups?

Kentucky was never going to host in Applebee's Park. UKAA was for certain they wer getting the regional...in fact, they were spending on materials to get the seating and the park ready for seating. I knew something was up , my neighbor is part of UKAA and would had worked to get the stadium set up and the playing field ready...we were out on the deck drinking beer when he told me he was expecting a phone call any minute to get to Cliff Hagen and start setting up...he never got the phone call.

I am going to be honest, if we do not have to have Louisville in our regional (which was projected to happen if he hosted) and we wind up Gary, then I am not mad....we have a better chance of getting out of that regional and making a run to Supers.

Missouri, with an RPI of 100 entering the week, is going to be a 2-seed? Wrong

No surprise that Tinkertoy shoebox they play in.. Don't blame the NCAA ..

Yet we hosted in 06 and so has Costal Carolina in their shoebox...don't be mad because LSU can not win in that shoebox (last 2 trips to Cliff go down in series losses for LSU)

I don't think fans of SEC champion LSU are hating on UK's park because of series losses there. It is because it sucks by league standards and needs a total overhaul.
