So do Bama basketball players get a sixth year if they get arrested?

Extra year of eligibility for all Georgia football players that get speeding tickets.

The NCAA is toothless with zero credibility to enforce its own rules. What the hell happened to academics, when was the last time we heard a player was ineligible due to grades?

Just tie eligibility to academics, a player must show academic progress and have earned a certain # of academic credits OR they can't play the sport.

Sounds nice in theory until the NCAA folds to a court ruling age discrimination or religious discrimination for Mormons who go on a 2 year mission.

I am sure NCAA lawyers have drafted the details but they don't have a great history of success.

Do they not teach reading at LSU? From the article...

quote:

No waiver requests, redshirts or exceptions will be permitted, except for a small group of outliers (those on maternity leave, military service or religious missions).

This is the way and something I've been pushing for. Finally some common damn sense legislation/rules/whatever.

It still doesnt fix the yearly transfers or multimillion $ NIL insanity, but it's a big step in the right direction.

I’m not sure this does anything to help with skyrocketing player costs, though. Limiting the field of potential employees usually raises their leverage. It certainly doesn’t reduce it.
