Update 12:58 central...
Charles Goldberg just posted an article about Emmmert's comments at al.com:

LINK

quote:

NCAA President Mark Emmert says he wants investigations such as that of Auburn quarterback Cam Newton to be "as efficient and expedited" as possible, but "you've got to get the facts right,'' the AP reported.

Per Twitter:

quote:

"@jselingo: #NCAA prez Emmert: We have to get the facts right on Cam. "The burden of proof is higher than for someone writing in a blog.""

JSelingo is Editor of The Chronicle of Higher Education and Tweeted out Emmert's comments at a taping of Graham Spanier show on the Big Ten Network. Guess this will be airing later today.

More pertinent tweets quoting/paraphrasing Emmert:
quote:

@jselingo
#NCAA president Emmert: We need to protect the collegiate nature of college sports. "We are not the minor leagues." #highered

quote:

@jjones5647
Jackie Jones
Emmert on paying of athletes: "Student athletes will never be paid as long as I"m president of the NCAA."

quote:

@jselingo
Jeffrey Selingo
Emmert: We help students succeed in a career. But when one wants to be a pro athlete we keep them away from agents. Doesn't make sense.

quote:

@jselingo
Jeffrey Selingo
@chrislittmann Show with Emmert, "Expert Opinion", is airing on Monday on Big10 network. Not sure on time.

I went to the Big Ten site and Expert Opinion airs at Noon ET on Monday. So if you want to see Emmert's full interview, you'll have to wait until then to verify if these Tweets are accurate.

But, but, but...
The Aubies tried to tell me the NCAA wasn't building a case against Cam...

"Lol" more e-cred from twitter...quote hardly resembles the actual

"NCAA President Emmert: Mark Emmert: The burden of proof is higher than for someone writing in a blog. We help students succeed in a career. But when one wants to be a pro athlete we keep them away from agents."

His father has already admitted to shopping his son. How much proof does the jackass need?

The NCAA is losing all credibility as a governing body. They're allowing this season to go forward even though it's going to be invalidated.

Thought they were determining whether he is eligible or not? Has Cam or AU been accused of wrongdoing? Spin away!!

And, it's a DAMNED shame that they refuse to step forward and do something in light of what Cecil already admitted to doing with Cam.

Nope. But Cecil has.

You know, the boy's daddy who made the decision that his son would be attending a certain school on the Plains.

But keep regurgitating Pat Dye's talking points. It's entertaining.
