Isn’t Akron football being placed on probation this upcoming season for horrendously bad apr? Thought I read that somewhere and I had never heard of it.

Imagine believing college sports has anything to do with academics these days.

Gotta find a win wherever you can.

Reminder that this isn’t a reflection of quality of education, moreso the operation of keeping guys eligible or in good academic standing. For some schools and to their credit, it’s definitely a reflection of how seriously they take academics for their programs. For schools like Ohio State that can stick players in all online classes - as they did with Fields and Burrow - it can also just be a reflection of better resources and institutional set up to navigate athletes through academics. Doubly so for schools with majors that have large swaths of elective options for athletes to move through relatively painlessly.
Too and like GSR, individual scores don’t tell a full story. It’s better to look at trends over a 5 year period but I’m denoting the 2 year trend below for each:
969 is the average score for programs
#2 Bama - 998 (+1 points from last year)
#13 Auburn - 990 (+4)
#17 Mizzou - 989 (-1)
#21 Texas - 986 (+6)
#33 Arkansas - 983 (+4)
#36 Florida - 982 (+1)
#42 Ole Miss - 980 (-7)
#45 Georgia - 979 (+11)
#45 Kentucky - 979 (+8)
#45 Mississippi State - 979 (-5)
#45 Vandy - 979 (+3)
#60 Oklahoma - 975 (+10)
#60 South Carolina - 975 (-6)
AVERAGE LINE
#85 Tennessee - 964 (+19)
#104 Texas A&M - 956 (+5)
#111 LSU - 952 (+18)

1) It’s not even finished.
2) Don’t even know who that toolbag is. He’s also pretty ugly himself.

That blurb has taken a life of its own on the rant. Pretty good lil meme, these days.

I get what you are saying but...
APR is based on keeping players on track to graduate. However, all schools are not equal. It is more difficult to graduate from Duke, for instance, than it is to graduate from Mississippi State. It stands to reason that it is more difficult to keep players on track at Vanderbilt, Texas, Florida and other tough schools than it is for Mississippi, MState, and other lower academic schools.
The rankings are pretty much worthless, imo.
