Oats will definitely take the IU job. Basketball will always be second to football at Bama. He is from Wisconsin.

Much closer to home

The NCAA did us a favor. Nobody will touch Wade.

I predict if Oats ever leaves, it will be for the NBA. And he's going to have to do a lot more winning to get their attention.

Eric Mussleman loves his current situation at Arkansas. Elite facilities, huge basketball fanbase, and the state produces top notch talent. The Arkansas AD and Musselman are already in talks of a new contract, which includes a massive raise and incentives. His wife hates cold weather.

Nate Oats is happy at Alabama as well.

Both coaches will be back at their respective schools next season.

From ages 7-12 if I remember right. Looked it up awhile back. His dad also had an interesting relationship with the school.

Indiana basketball is akin to Tennessee or Nebraska football. Has been's that likely never will be again.

IU would be fools not to give the Drake coach a look. Mark Pope as well.

Indiana basketball is like Nebraska football. Indiana hasn't been relevant since the 1980's, so they may be worse. There's no way either coach leaves for that job.

Muss knows he's only second fiddle in the west every year behind the General Will Wade and Oats

He gone!

I think you have that backwards. I'm pretty sure Cheatin' Wade finished behind Muss this year.

and Muss isn't going anywhere, especially not to God Awful Minnesota or Indiana. He's about to get a phat raise like Oats did, and it'll be well deserved.

My guess is one takes the IU job and the other takes over Tennessee football.

Honestly I don't think Bama's situation is that much different. If Oates gets run over by UCONN/Terps or god forbid Pitino pulls a miracle out of his arse your fans would be singing a different tune with all the seniors leaving and a 20m buyout.

We really wouldn't, but we aren't nearly as picky as you guys are due to the different histories of our programs. Things like SEC Titles matter a lot to us, and the way his teams play is so much better than anything we've had in so long........he's bought himself a whole helluva lot of rope.

Now, if he won regular season games then shite his pants in the tournament for 4-5 straight years? Then we'd get frustrated (see Mark Gottfried).

Brad Stevens should give IU a look, Celtics might not even make the playoffs this year.

Gottfried - 1 NCAA in his last 4 years (10 seed)
Grant - 1 NCAA in 6 years (9 seed)
Avery - 1 NCAA in 4 years (9 seed)

I mean we're really a pretty great job when you think about it. If you produce hard playing teams, win 20+ games and got to the NCAAT most years you will get all the money you need to win and have a packed house for conference games.

Maybe. Oates might have created the monster that Nolan Richardson is so fond of referencing.

Yea - it'll happen eventually. It happened with Gottfried even before he stopped making tournaments. People got tired of winning 18-20 games a year, making the tournament and losing early with a team that made the same mistakes every year. Then he stopped recruiting great players, stopped making tournaments and he got fired.

Oats just agreed to a contract extension at Alabama and has a 5-star PG already signed for next year who may end up being a 1-and-done lotto pick.

Oats is not going anywhere this year. I’d be watching for 2022 or 2023 if the football only gump big money reneges on the capital projects for men’s basketball.
