Wow great record. We will probably finish better than that. The rest of our schedule is easy and we get Herb Jones back.

Avery Johnson was 15-9 after 24 games last year.

Yep then he finished the season 3 and 9 after that which is why he got fired.

Ya'll still had talent Wade's first year Skylar Mays, Tremont Waters. Jones could recruit as well as Avery if not better. He did get Ben Simmons among other highly rated guys.

I love this thread. The Alabama board called me dumb for not wanting to fire Avery. I can't wait to see Oats fail more.

Johnny brought in some ballplayers - Martin, Mickey, Quarterman, Simmons, Blakeney.

But man he could not coach

Oats has the higher ceiling. This team needs players, and for those players not to be hurt. Right now, Alabama simply isn’t where it needs to be personnel wise to do much.

I know this is a troll thread that will be devoid of real discussion, but I felt the need to at least bring some real points to the thread.

I don't remember anybody saying it was a great record.
It was good considering Johhny had run the program into the ground, and had won only 10 games the year he got fired.

That's exactly the point of this thread. Johhny got fired for going 10-21. Will Wade went 18-15 the following year.

Avery got fired for only winning 18 games and Kate is two games behind him after 24 games.

But I'm being told he is 100x better than Avery. INTERESTING.

Waters was recruited by Wade. Mays was not great his first couple of years.

And Jones had completely given up his last year. Which is impressive because he’s one of the worst game coaches ever

If Oats hasn't had a year with less than 15 losses by after year 5 then his arse will be grass as well.

It doesn't matter who recruited them yall still had talent Wade's first year.

Rick Barnes sucked his first year at Tennessee too.

Saban sucked his first year at Alabama.

To say Avery in his 4th year having a better record midseason than Oats does in his first means Avery is somehow better is a stupid premise to begin with.

Alabama has played the second hardest schedule in the country and has had a ton of injuries and still might make the tournament. Oats is doing an incredible job.

Yea that was painful to watch, and was exactly what all of us feared this season would be with Avery.

Yea, the pace, grit and competitiveness of this team in year one that was flipped upside down early on with injuries and a schit NCAA ruling is the best I've seen from Bama in a long, long time

Wait you wouldn’t give Oates credit for recruiting a player who lit it up this year?

I think the Avery/Oates comparison is dumb as well but let’s not get crazy
