His players never quit on him. He never quit on Florida knowing he was canned either way. He coached his team to win yesterday. He could have said to hell with it snd let assistants do all the work. Muschamp, Durkin, McElwain, Shannon, Mullen, Knox, and Napier.

Florida AD and boosters need to look in the mirror.
Even as a UGA alum, I found it difficult to not like Napier. He seems like a quality person. Some people just aren't cut out for certain roles.

Napier was a good guy.

But coaching is a results oriented deal, can’t be 23-24 in year 4 at UF.

Had he hired a good OC would he have survived? (I know that's impossible to say but I've heard Florida fans bitching about his play calling)

I don’t recall any of his players getting into trouble for anything off the field. He did have their respect. Might’ve been too much of a player’s coach rather than a hardass.

Um...why do we need to look in the mirror? Very, very, very clear he was a terrible head coach.

The degree of hardness of his arse was never an issue. It was the fact he never broke tendency in his play calling. He never knew how to manage time. He seemed to evaluate well. Guys played hard for him. Most position groups developed decently. He held DC’s accountable and replaced them until he got a good one. He was just a terrible qb coach, OC, and HC. And rather than addresss his own failures, he let everyone go down with the ship.

It didn’t have to happen, but his ego demanded it.

Hell, if he trusted assistants there's a good chance he never loses the job. His stubbornness and unwillingness to self reflect was his downfall. All everyone asked was for him to give up play calling. Never did it, and it cost him.
