Mullen is going to stay at State until he gets an elite job...as you can see, Miami and South Beach couldnt get him to leave.

He has as much power as any coach could at any school, complete support of the administration, an excited fanbase, and a team that is getting better.

It's going to take a Fla, Georgia, Penn State, Oklahoma type of job to get him out of Starkville

Elite, no. But Dan could build State to where it had winning seasons every year and could compete for Atlanta with a strong senior class or so.
If Dan wants to win a NC then he is probably at the wrong place. It's a one in a million chance that it could even happen. But, if he wants to live in a place that he and his family really like, he can be rewarded for his efforts (I am hearing close to $2.4MM), he can win some games and at least have a chance at Atlanta, then why go? But, if his burning desire is to win a NC then he has a better chance at Miami. Probably not a great chance but probably a better chance than we can give him.

a freak season could happen, yes. If Ole Miss' 2008 team has a consistent QB then they're probably in the NC hunt. If State had Cam this season you could say the same.

If Ole Miss '09 had consistent QB play we'd have at least been in the hunt for a sugar bowl.

Ole Miss 2008 was a great team, man. We're going to look back and scratch our heads at Wake Forest, Vandy, and SC. The Jerry bros, Dex, Mike Wallace, Shay Hodge, Daverin Geralds, Kentrell Lockett, Marshay Green, Kendrick Lewis, Oher, just a shite ton of talent.

I was happy at the time of the '08 season, but looking back now after seeing the players from that team in the NFL and how we lost 4 games by 19 points, and also considering who we lost to, it makes me absolutely sick. That team was special

You won't accomplish anything in the near future with Nutt as your coach. He won with Orgeron's players. We see how he does with his own recruits. Plus, there is just way too much off the field incidents with him.

Without a doubt^^^

There is enough talent that wants to play in the SEC that Mullen can build a consistent winner. I don't think he will ever supplant LSU, Alabama, and Auburn as the traditional powers in the SEC West but he can get State to where they beat one or two of them annually and make the division that much more competitive.
