"What do you think it takes to become an elite program?"

Most likely a decent amount of wins coupled with a title here and there...???? i don't know for sure, just throwing it out there

You live in Alexandria. Probably the biggest shithole in the state of Louisiana with over 10k in population.

Irrelevant. I'm not a millionaire head coach with realistic opportunities to live wherever I want.

Elite, no. But Dan could build State to where it had winning seasons every year and could compete for Atlanta with a strong senior class or so.

This is all Ole Miss or State can ever hope for. We will never have the tradition of winning that LSU, Tenn, Bama, Fla, etc have in the SEC. We will not be able to hold all the good recruits in Mississippi every year. Besides that no matter how good either Ole Miss or MSU is the top 6 or so recruits in the state are always split.

Besides the talent part of it, we don't have the athletic budget or boosters to compete for 10 wins every year.

If a coach in Mississippi goes to a bowl 8 out of 10 years and wins the west once in that time period, a statue will be built. That is all we can ask for.

Mullen is on the tract to prove that he can do this. That scares me because Ole Miss has at best another year in the cellar before we can compete for 8 wins again.

agreed. Mullen is on track to do more than Jackie ever did and without the ramping cheating or criminals.

Mullen said that one condition of him staying in Starkville is that they must open a Sam's Club.

I'm not being sarcastic. Does anyone know Saban's comments when he was at Miami on him going to Bama?

I was really young then, but I think he left like three days later.

Actually, he said that in Oxford one day at app. 4:00 pm. He boarded Bobby Lowder's plane at 2:00am the next morning and was announced as Auburn's new coach at 11:00 am

This is dead on...State and Mississippi always split the talent and the state isnt big enough to produce enough elite talent that can qualify and support both schools...

Average 8 wins a year with the special season mixed in every 5-6 years is realistically the best either can hope for.
