It was more due to his relationship with the new UConn coach Bob Diaco and Balis was with Diaco on the Virginia staff as well. As I noted earlier, it is not common for strength coaches to stay at one school all that long and MSU was blessed to have Balis as long as they have.
Concerning his replacement, Mullen is already working on that situation and the hopes are to have someone in place very soon. No names yet that I can give out but do expect it to be soon given that the offseason training starts next week.

He was top 5 S&C in SEC in pay. Top 20 national. UConns coach is a very good friend. Nothing more or less. 5 yrs is a long time for a SC coach in one spot. Not a big deal. Meatheads are abundant for hire.
