Per Kendall Rodgers twitte

Jake Gautreau is a really nice hire for @HailStateBB — He was a strong assistant at #Tulane, now doing well w/ Boras Corp. Quality get.

He was Cannizzaro's teammate at Tulane

Looks like Andy and Gautreau will be recruiting Nola and the Northshore in the future. Gonna be interesting how Mainiari reacts.

Is Starkville really that bad? Serious question. I've never been but people are constantly downing it. I imagine it being a small town but is there anything wrong with that?

It's a college town of 25k it's not a state capital and metro area like Baton Rouge. It's a city that built around the college and he's continually been growing and improving over the past decade.

Great place to raise a family. If your a city yuppy it might not be your place but if you enjoying the outdoors, cooking out, being around good people, family friendly activities, etc then it's a very nice place to be.

Maybe by sweeping them over 5 games, winning the SEC, and tripping to Omaha.
Wouldn't be the first time.

I've lived in Clemson,South Carolina and visted Starkville numerious times and they are twins of each other.Starkville is a fun country college town.If you don't like the country type atmosphere you're not going to like the place.Oxford is highly overrated. It wants to be Athens so bad but it just fails at it.

funny you should say that

quote:

In his will, Clemson explicitly stated that he wanted the school to be modeled after what is now Mississippi State University: "This institution, I desire, to be under the control and management of a board of trustees, a part of whom are hereinafter appointed, and to be modeled after the Agricultural College of Mississippi as far as practicable.

TBH, the Gautreau hire will probably hurt their Alma Mater and smaller in state schools. LSU pretty much gets who they want as far as Louisiana baseball talent goes. There are occasionally kids that grow up in a Tulane family or a ULL family, but it doesn't happen much. That said, there is plenty of baseball talent in Louisiana that LSU doesn't have room for. Good move by State.
