Realistic replacement options for Beamer and Napier.
Dave Clawson
57 years old with 2years left on his contract. Runs an RPO system that would serve Florida or South Carolina well next year. Can identify talent but has never had the resources to recruit due to being at Wake Forest. 4.3 million a year and a chance to recruit his system to the fullest might get him to leave Wake Forest.
SC- Matt Limegrover an Oline and OC guy that utilizes a run heavy and play defense system. Is going to address the LoS. With a QB coach and decent DC could get OofSC competitive quickly
Florida- Justin Wilcox a DC with head coaching experience that can recruit in Florida. A Defensive Lane Kiffin.
James Franklin current Penn ST coach. Has SEC experience, might be looking for a change from his time at Penn St
Mike MacIntyre FIU head coach- DC with ties to the SEC and the south. Would immediately impact the culture and looker rooms at either school.
Florida has the talent and the talent base but doesn’t seem to have the commitment to coaching. While UofSC has the talent base but not the resources. Just looking at both situations that was the list of guys or types of coaches I would look at to fill the presumed positions

Would Kiffin settle for Florida? No disrespect but Florida is a ground up project fighting the AD and boosters right now. That’s why I didn’t include him. I think his next stop is a big 10 school or the NFL

Florida is going to go all in on Kiffin.
And he’s going to take the job.
This is Ole Miss’s one and only shot. They are losing just about everything after the season.

Beamer won’t be fired
Tanner doesn’t have the balls.

Kiffin won't go to UF for an compete rebuild while all of his kids and family are in Oxford.
OM will match any offer UF throws out

Florida has administrative issues that run deep. It was a great job many years ago but that has faded.

quote:Ole Miss is probably a better job in the NIL era. Less administrative dysfunction and a booster base that cares about winning, i.e. donating to NIL, and less about having access to the program and having a HC that goes out to restaurants with them.

Hopefully FU gets distracted by someone else and stays away from Schumman

Not so sure about that. He probably would have in 2021, but now I think he'd pass on it.

quote:They get a coach in who wins games. Said coach will make the rules. Saban changed the way things are done at LSU. He things back on track at Bama. Great coaches are bigger than the institution they work for.

This.

I doubt Lane leaves Ole Miss while his kids are in school.

Not even close.
Why in the world would he give up what he's built at OM for the dumpster fire that is UF athletics/administration?
And as usual Smokey misses the boat on his choices.
Brent Key will be Florida's coach in 2025

Michigan, UCLA, Washington, Cal, Penn St, would be better fit’s today than Florida today. The Game isn’t what it was when Floridas built in recruiting advantage was paramount to everything else.
Today it’s,
NIL
A chancellor that has control of boosters
A great AD
Then recruiting area.
And Florida doesn’t have a functioning NIL program. The Boosters are not on board with the Chancellor, the AD is not running the system very well. But Florida is still a great recruiting environment so they have players.
