As a Florida fan, I must also include our rivalry with FSU because it's another school that UF has to navigate. I get jeers from people boasting about how UF has never had an undefeated/untied season but what other team plays so many other top ranked opponents???

UF and FSU were both ranked teams for the 21st time since 1990. In 14 of those games they were both ranked in the Top 10. In nine of those games at least one was ranked in the Top 2.

Friend and I were just discussing. Florida/LSU and Florida/Tennessee are on there but no Florida/UGA which is one of the SECs premier rivalries (duh). I think a few factors are obviously UF wasn't elite until the 90s but also the WLOCP isn't played until either the last month of the season or the last weekend in october whereas Florida plays both Tennessee and LSU very early in the season when they're most likely to still hold a preseason ranking. So you're right, opponents that are faced earlier in the season are more likely to have more ranked matchups at gametime especially if it's a premier brand.

Yeah I like to use that excuse as well, but the iron bowl is played 3-4 weeks after the Cocktail Party, so we really can't use that. Fla & Ga have just not been good at the same time very often. It has taken a little of the national luster off the game and that is a shame.

Wait a minute.... I've been assured that the TSIO was always the premiere match up between the SEC's two best teams for decades right up until a few years ago. How is it tied for 5th?

--I was honestly expecting to see Alabama vs Tennessee at the top of this list before I started looking. Somewhat surprised to see that not only is it not at the top, it barely makes the top 5.

Tennessee hasn’t held up their end of the bargain as far as being ranked when playing Bama. Granted, Bama had some periods here and there when we weren’t ranked, but the last 10 years has really mindfricked Tennessee.

Sean Bean, where do you get all your stats?

I used to be able access great stats like these on the CFBTrivia website, but last I checked it had been shut down. Are there any other great websites for gathering these types of statistics?

Collegepollarchive.com was my go-to for these specific numbers.

I use a combination of that and sports-ref for a lot of stuff. I’ve extracted A TON from sports-ref (90% via web scraping) and created team/player pivot tables.

I also have limited access to Stats Inc in certain situations (it’s where I’m able to pull advanced stuff like “vs stacked box”).
