Bought my first boat late last summer and dry storing it on Lake Guntersville. Guntersville can be very shallow in spots, and I do not know the lake very well.

Looking for an entry model depth finder with lake mapping capabilities that will show me the sections I need to stay away from. Not interested in fish finding or anything.

Hoping to keep it around $500.

if you're interested in the red dot route, I have a basically brand new Holosun 510C that I'm not using currently.
Went and looked at these at lunch and they are SHORT. Not a bad thing, just smaller than what I assumed a 'compact' would be.

Local gun shop had this setup as a combo with a Vortex Diamondback 3.5-10x for $699.

Thoughts on the combo package? If not what's a good entry level optic as well?
Looking at grabbing a 7mm-08 for my boy if I can grab a deal this Christmas.

Anything I need to know about or other options to consider?

Get the cheap shitty newer one, use it a few years until your kids are teenagers and no longer want to hang out with mommy and daddy on the boat listening to Zac Brown. Then sell it.

Boats are whores and they should be treated as such.

This is the best reply so far.
this is what I hear, but I feel like I see them everywhere.
likely just pulling a tube, but would like the capability to pull a wakeboard.
Looking at picking up a used boat for lake weekends with the family. Not looking to spend much more than $15-20k.

My question is, am I better off buying a newer 'value brand' such as a Tahoe or a Bayliner or something older with a better build quality and reputation like a Cobalt, Sea Ray, or a Chaparral?

Also, should I go outboard for reliability and easier maintenance?

Thanks OB.
Debating a lightly used truck and have been eyeing F150's but...

Seeing a lot of gently used '22 Tundras with low mileage. I know there have been reports of pretty widespread wastegate issues, is the number of well priced, low mileage, new model Tundras a sign to stay away?

I assume these are still covered under factory warranties but unless I'm mistaken lemon laws only apply to original owners.
low head dams are basically drowning machines. They do a great job but are near impossible to get out of, including boats. This happens all the time and although they look innocent they will kill you.

I used a PSA lower parts kit in an Aero/BCM build recently and everything went together pretty easily. This was the EPT and I did have some initial issues with the trigger resetting.

Examined the trigger group and where the hammer and disconnector interface, both of the edges were pretty sharp. I ended up very gently filing both edges and no issues since. It probably would have broken itself in but just FYI if you encounter this issue.
Thanks, complete uppers are not serialized correct? Seems like it would take the ATF a lot of work to determine those that had purchased pistol length uppers. All of this for something that in home defense situations is causing no harm.
If this goes into affect and assuming I built a braced pistol from a stripped lower, can I just purchase a 16" upper and a stock and no longer be in violation of NFA?

Was looking at multiple uppers anyway.

fish taco question...

Making fish tacos tonight for a group of 6-8. Was planning on frying them but ended up with redfish. Should I stick to frying or would redfish be better blackened?
