I call shenanigans on LSU being so low. I have no delusions about our academic integrity, but there is no way we're so far below Tenn, Auburn, and Arkansas.
I base that on pure conjecture + the scholarships I was offered when applying everywhere

How in the hell did Eddie Lacy get into Bama?

I'm calling bullshite, and I can't even read the article

I know that since my freshman year, the new MSU presidents made a big effort to increase enrollment.

i would be good to define "most selective". i know what it connotes, but specifically what does it mean?. i am going to speculate that it is calculated using the numbers of applicants the school turns down vs the numbers it accepts. if so, it is HUGELY FLAWED (like my spelling). it could just as well mean there are more dumb asses that apply to alabama and arkansas than there are at Kentucky.

Here are the criteria
• The admissions rate for the year.
• The 75th percentile score on college-entrance exams, based on ACT and SAT scores submitted by applicants (converted to the SAT's 1,600-point scale). The 75th percentile score was better than 75 percent of all scores submitted.
• The 25th percentile score on the same tests.

well I know you the ACT minimum is higher for AU than UofA (I use that as an example because I know those two schools requirements and not others. at least it was for years when I went to school there and I just graduated a year ago) so I guess that isn't taken into consideration

I wonder what LSU was ranked back when I was an incoming freshman. I know the ACT requirements have gone up 3-4 points since then.
I want to say it was a 20 in 2004 and is 23-24 now. Anybody should feel free to correct me.

The 10% rule really fricked most colleges in Texas.

Main reason this is flawed. For comparison sakes
20k applied to bama and 10k got in
15k applied to AU and 12k got in, hence the lower rating
And I am sure this applies to several other schools

if the SC legislature would have rechartered the College of Charleston as the State's Flagship university in 1801, which would have allowed it to be a D-1 program w/ football, it would have easily made #1 on the list. same as if LSU was in New Orleans. but since LSU was moved from Pineville, Louisiana had the foresight to find a more suitable campus location. USC was established adjacent to the State Capital in Columbia, which limited how it could grow and caused some of the facilities like Williams-Brice to be placed off campus.
if we had an 85k seat stadium overlooking the Ashley River in Charleston where the state relocated The Citadel, we'd have the most selective school in America even if our academics were crap. we'd never get Todd Blackledge to leave after doing a Taste of the Town.

You really can't have a "most selective" list and not include admissions rate.
By definition, according to those figures, Bama is more selective. It doesn't address the "why", but to say they were more selective is not a flawed argument in itself. It's actually not even an argument.

I hate that ours is too low. Too many out of state rich kids who couldnt get in to Bama, UGA or Texas that care nothing about the betterment of the school or state.

But admission rate percentage of applied has no bearing on why they accepted a student or not. They only accept a certain amount of students, not a percentage. If bama had 40k students apply, they would still only accept 10k

UA is going to have to stop climbing these lists or all the hot dumb girls will start going elsewhere

When I was in HS I didn't know there was such a thing as being accepted or denied from State or Ole Miss. I always was under the assumption as long as you had a 2.5GPA and 17ACT you get to go to school there no questions asked.
