As you'll see in my most recent post in the thread, if you remove the Iron Bowl, Auburn has 7 of the next Top 15 most popular games that didn't involve Alabama..... LSU had just 4 on that list.

So LSU had greater than 25% of the most-watched games in all of the conference excluding games involving Alabama? Doesn't sound too bad to me

I never said LSU was the most popular team not named Alabama

My point was you provided an unreliable metric and based an opinion off of it. (Miss St being #4 should have stood out to you)

Not surprising since watching a Les miles offense operate for a decade was near torture... I can see why people outside of the fanbase wouldnt tune in..

LSU is getting skewed here

Since 2013, our game vs bama hasnt been in the 2:30 slot

That is taking away our biggest money making game every year off of this. Just a thought

Just trying to get apples-to-apples. The SEC clears the deck for the CBS Primetime Game each year ensuring there's not any competition. All other SEC vs. SEC games have to be concluded by the time that game airs.

Yes, it somewhat hurts LSU, but you'll see from the TOP 15 most watched games NOT involving Alabama, LSU is well behind Auburn, behind Georgia and Texas A&M, and tied with Florida.... so I don't think it really skews it that much.

Not terrible... but that's fewer than Auburn, Georgia, and Texas A&M.

It did. Which is exactly why I pointed it out. It's also why I included ESPN night games which showed MSU's popularity decline considerably.

If you look at all the facts, its clear that LSU is easily the 5th most popular draw from the SEC, behind #1 Alabama, #2 Auburn, and Texas A&M and Georgia a close 3 and 4.

Most Popular Annual Rivalries (2013-2019) in terms of Average TV Viewership:

1. Alabama vs. Auburn- 11.27 million avg. viewers
2. Alabama vs. LSU- 10.12 million avg. viewers
3. Alabama vs. Texas A&M- 7.07 million avg. viewers
4. LSU vs. Florida- 5.16 million avg. viewers*
5. Georgia vs. Florida- 4.97 million avg. viewers
6. Georgia vs. Auburn- 4.88 million avg. viewers
7. Alabama vs. Tennessee- 4.82 million avg. viewers
8. Auburn vs. LSU- 4.23 million avg. viewers
9. Florida vs. Tennessee- 4.01 million avg. viewers*

*LSU vs. Florida and Florida vs. Tennessee are likely skewed high because at least of of the games since 2013 was aired on SEC Network so therefore was not metered. LSU vs. Florida had two such games and Florida-Tennessee had one such game.

Amazing how far UT-UF has fallen. It was the conference's premiere game for a decade or so, and now it barely moves the needle above where the Egg Bowl would be if it got a better time slot.

Also, Alabama vs. Tennessee being so far behind Bama's annual games against Auburn, LSU, and A&M shows how few people outside those two states actually view that game as anything special.

Yeah I thought so too.

2013, 2014, and 2015 were all blowouts one way or the other and therefore were never really competitive. That might be part of the reason. However, Alabama vs. Tennessee is always a blowout.

The Aggies have such a large alumni base and fan base along with being in such a massively populated state, they produce good ratings.

Really? Then why did they only garner 142,000 viewers in their primetime ESPNU game vs. Lamar?

Because they were playing Lamar.

That doesn't make any sense. They didn't sell out the game and only brought in 142,000 viewers.

LSU-ULM had more viewers in an earlier timeslot, on what's considered a more obscure network, in a state that has 15 percent the population of Texas.

I'm not sure why Sports Media Watch has LSU-ULM at Sept. 21, but that's not correct.

Nonetheless, Mississippi State and Southern Miss pulled in 231,000 viewers.

Miss. St.'s game against the Ragin' Cajuns had 370,000 viewers.

I’m pretty sure this is by percentage, or per capita. The number of viewers comprising the 3.6 rating in the Atlanta market would greatly outnumber that of the 7.4 rating in the Birmingham market if that’s the case.

This is just dumb on so many levels:

1. The opponent was Lamar
2. It was on ESPN U which many folks don't have access to
3. It was a blowout so no one other than the most die hard Aggie would watch until the end.

Other games that have outdrawn aggy-Lamar at 142,000 viewers:

Florida vs. Tennessee-Martin (ESPNU, 364,000)

Iowa State vs. Univ. of Northern Iowa (FS1, 493,000)

Old Dominion vs. Va Tech (ESPNU, 201,000)

South Dakota State vs. Minnesota (FS1, 392,000)
