The A&M team was the national runner up and essentially 95% of the roster is back combined with a top 7 recruiting class.
Wake on the other hand, was all hype and speculation.
The reality is I do not know what this year holds, and I certainly do not like being #1 out of the gate. It never works out. Pitching will make or break us.

Maybe it’s because the people who run all these websites have actually taken time to explore the roster instead of just being like “hmm Condon gone they suck now”
Our team was 70% transfers last year too and the whole team raked. We led the SEC in OPS. Condon & Collins were definitely a huge part of that, but it’s not like they carried us as many in this thread have implied.
Phelps, Goldstein, Alford, Branch, and Hunter all return with 75+ ABs and an .850+ OPS
Phelps is a Top 20 MLB prospect at the moment and sat at 1.140 OPS as a freshman last year.
For pitching, Finley & Smith had poor overall numbers but clearly turned a corner in conference play. In the last 7 weeks of SEC play, Kolten Smith had the lowest ERA, most wins, and most strikeouts among starting pitchers in the SEC, which is why he was named preseason All-American by Baseball America.
On top of that, our transfer class was consensus Top 5 and even #2 in some places. Plenty of bats, plenty of arms. Tons of experience.
I think you’d have to be wildly unfamiliar with the roster to say the team isn’t Top 10
