I seriously doubt that Easley, SC is more educated than Lexington, SC for many reasons.

Lexington is 97% Caucasian, has the two highest rated HS districts in the state, has a high ratio of white collar professionals and even, unfortunately, is second highest home to professional medical, legal and engineering professionals in the state just behind Mt Pleasant in Charleston.

Easley is fast growing and on the I-85 corridor, I get it ... but most educated, I seriously doubt that. I’d have to see their metrics to believe it.

Based on the described methods, doesn't sound like they're looking at per capita ... Target total education. If that's correct (on a flight and about to lose connection so can't follow links) then it would make Atlanta the easy choice.

ETA: Not sure what "divided by city" is supposed to mean... Going back and forth here.

I love Auburn but Huntsville has the highest concentration of brainpower in Alabama by a mile.

Why not?
Do you realize how many UGA, Tech, Emory, Morehouse, Auburn, Bama etc grads live in Atlanta?

Or is there another reason you said that that you wouldn’t admit to?

Half of that brainpower lives in Madison and north Huntsville isn't exactly full of future rocket scientists.

Isn’t Southern Miss in Hattiesburg?
Doesn’t seem outlandish.

The answer for GA and for the Southeast is so obviously Atlanta. DC is the closest city with the concentration of educated professionals we have in Atlanta.

Do you know how I know you have not spent substantial time around Hattiesburg?

Huntsville/Madison are like the same entity. Huntsville completely surrounds Madison and working in Research Park and on the Arsenal it seems nobody really knows where the border is anyway.

"recent marketing report"

i don't believe marketing especially not some online insurance shopping thing.

I bet they have "marketers" that try to sell their "reports" to generate leads to people that work in sales in other industries. Only idiots fill out surveys and give all their info.

I don't disagree, but with the methodology used it makes a difference.
While someone might not be able to tell you exactly where the boundry between Madison and Huntsville is, the Zip code used and census data will classify it as one or the other.

I’ve spent zero time in/around Hattiesburg.

I was just curious why a town with a good-sized university wouldn’t be considered as the most educated within the state.

I’m certainly not a Hattiesburg, MS devotee.

That would have been a better, more believable, guess than Easley.

I mean I just checked and Easley is not even in the Top 10 in HS districts which is usually a pretty good indicator of what the parents are doing.

I like your thought process. The problem comes with the methodology used:

Insurify, an online car insurance shopping platform, named Auburn the most educated city in Alabama based on an analysis of the educational achievement of residents throughout the state, the city of Auburn said.

The report analyzed more than 1.6 million car insurance applications to determine which city in each state is the most educated, according to Insurify.

Insurify assigned a score to each insurance application based on educational history and achievement. The probability of advancing to college based on current grade point average was factored into the calculation for high school students, the report states.

A more comprehensive study would likely conclude Oxford, Starkville, or maybe Madison to be the most educated city in Mississippi.

Rankings using different methodology and census data:
Hattiesburg not listed in Top 15

That methodology ranks Diamondhead - where NASA has a rocket testing facility - as the most educated city in MS.
