You ever heard of Prichard? I won’t even look at the exit when I pass it on 65.

Walker county isn’t bad unless you mess with the wrong people or hang out in Beat 10.

It doesn’t have shite on west Atlanta, parts of Houston, Memphis, “inside” Jackson, Chicago or Detroit.

Whoa, Birmingham crime...never really read much about it until just now. I've passed through a time or two.

Interestingly, and no one cares, when I spent my summers in Orange Beach and Dauphin Island fishing, I didn’t change my oil in my truck. Frick that in June, July and August.. On the recommendation of a guy who had a house on the island who owned a body shop in Mobile I started going to a little shop in Prichard off the interstate. I never felt unsafe there. And I never felt like the people changing my oil were screwing me. Just good dudes trying their damnedest to make an honest living. They changed my oil for less than I could go buy 7 quarts of oil and a filter.

A different building a few blocks down and with a different bunch? They would have shot me and taken my truck. The hood is a different place.

Agree on the St Louis parts. Lived there 98-2001. Outside of N StL and parts of downtown and all of E StL the place was safe and fun.
And….. I have many of fun memories from Friday evening and nights at the Tittay bars in E StL. Rough places, yes. But lots of fun. The ladies were completely naked and up for anything. Anyone else remember the club with the shower on the second floor overlooking the stage?

One guy and his dog die by a still unsolved riding mower bomb. Add a couple more people just disappear without a trace. And Walker County, AL gets a reputation as being dangerous. Nobody lives there to speak of, it doesn’t take but a couple of dead people to spike their per capita murder rate.

First, I didn’t do anything to piss the people off that put bodies there. And second, when there was that double BUI death and the teacher went missing and they side scanned and dove the sunken trees for weeks to find her they didn’t find one additional body.

A lot of people do die in Walker County. But many more are the result of “hey, watch this” than the mafia. And most of the addicts can’t hurt you unless you swap spit and catch hepatitis. Hell, the Cullman County owned offroad park has killed more people than the mob the last few years.

And also, they don’t put them in the lake. Old coal mines.

Helena/West Helena is a place I make sure I don’t need to stop for gas after doing it once.

The most corrupt city in Arkansas.

The city has the highest paid city council in the state.

City jobs are woefully underpaid to the point that they are minimum wage.

I have always been told that Walker County Alabama is the most dangerous drug infested place in the southeast. Are there other reasons it has that reputation ?

This seems odd to include.

Walker is a blue collar, hard working type county and there’s probably a good number of meth houses. But there is very little random crime.

You definitely don’t have to watch your back or worry about your parked car like you do in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, or Jackson.

KC, where I now make my home...yes crime is bad in some areas. But KC metro is a great place. I know it's on the far outer limits of where most in the south would think of travelling, but check it out some time.

I love KC. Prefer it over St Louis for sure. (Except I hate the KC airport)
