They may get the benefit of the doubt, but I think they are using them as a punchline

I have seen Alabama win 3 NC in person and they have won more than 3 since.
Before Coach Saban leaves Alabama, Bama will win another 2-3 NC
UGA fans (and OSU fans) are breathing a sigh of relief that Alabama is not in the playoffs this year.
The thing is, Alabama will always compete for and win a lot of NC in football. No other SEC team can or will match that fact (since the end of WWII the total of NC Alabama has won is 13, and the total of all the other SEC schools is 13......

Yeah we saw that in the SECCG last year.....
UGA was lucky Alabama's WR got hurt and that UGA did not play Alabama this year....

It's an interesting stat, because they put as many teams in the final four as anyone and are pretty good overall. Just not a team good enough to win it

Those numbers don't suggest the B1G is bad, they are in the middle on sweet 16% and 2nd out of 4 on FFs. This is from 2022 so obviously Kansas' title isn't on there
