If they can get enough teams out of here, LSU may have a chance to return to its place as an SEC power instead of being a middle-of-the-pack team.
Do a side by side photo of National Championship trophy case for football…. Stick to basketball until you actually win something in football buddy

Why should it matter? Last thing they “won” was a co-conference championship in 1969
And the one-trick pony makes his appearance. Come up with some new material.

I would help them pack. I'm tired of them whipping our arse.
Seriously, I like Missouri being in the SEC, and don't want them to leave.

I actually believe Missouri is and has been better than Nebraska over the past 20 years or so.

No thanks. I really enjoy the road trips and passion.
Missouri is such a crossroads that we have as much in common with the South as we do with the Midwest. And now that the Big10 is coast-to-coast, it has lost it's identity.

That’s 16 years ago, not a soul in Missouri at that time believed the SEC was a legitimate option and the B12 was taking on water.
It’s well known the B10 offered junior membership, we didn’t take it. If we wanted to be in so bad, we would have been.
The SEC was both our yacht and life boat. We’d never leave because:
1. Grateful to this league
2. We’ve been here for 15 years. An entire generation has only known SEC football.
3. The intensity, drama and passion is unparalleled. At the end of the day we all want to be entertained and this is the best. We know what pro sports looks like, this is an epic complement.
4. Matchups - the B10 offers us Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska. That’s the only 3 guys that would move the dial for the nominal fan. We play Illinois already. We have no history with Iowa and beating Nebraska now is like beating up a 60 year old man who is still wearing his letter jacket. It means something, but nothing like it used to. I’d rather watch Mizzou play the SEC. Give us another 15 years and perhaps these threads will get laughed off the board when we are 3rd gen.
Excellent summary. I'd add one more:
5. The SEC has been excellent for Mizzou's football program. Go find a photo of Faurot Field and our training facilities from 2011 before we joined the SEC compared to now. That $750 million or so invested during our SEC tenure simply wouldn't have happened if we were still in the Big 12, or even the B1G. Look at the talent composite on our teams compared to Pinkel's best Big 12 squads. We have exciting SEC road trips that our fans want to make. Likewise, our fans are excited to host SEC fanbases.
I think this board (and SEC fanbases generally) underestimate how much Mizzou loves the SEC.

Question.
I see ‘junior membership’ offered on here several times. Was that you can be a member, but only get a smaller portion of the revenue share?

Yes that's what the B10 offered Mizzou and it was turned down then Nebraska took the jr offer.

Yes, Mizzou declined this offer as it would have placed us at a years-long financial disadvantage.
Nebraska accepted the offer. Consider how that’s going for them.

In that very first wave of realignment Mizzou was hoping for a Big 10 invite, but the Big 10 selected Nebraska. With the Big 10 sort of passing the SEC in recent success and money…would y’all rather be there? I always thought the Mizzou addition was a little forced after the A&M addition another school needed to be added. Culturally I would think they would be more Midwest than Southern. Competition wise I think they have more than held their own.
Our governor at the time was a moron who couldn’t keep his mouth shut. He meddled to the point Big Ten powers were embarrassed at the thought.
I wouldn’t want the Big Ten now, but at the time we were desperate to leave the mess that was the Big 12.

Nobody is disputing LSU's national championships. But it's pretty telling that the moment someone questions where your program is headed, you have to run to the trophy case to defend it.
Those trophies represent what LSU used to be, not what LSU is today.
And that's exactly my point. LSU fans are so accustomed to being at the top of the SEC that they haven't figured out how to handle becoming just another team fighting for relevance in the conference.
Kentucky has never pretended to be a football dynasty. LSU, on the other hand, still acts like it's 2019.
Keep polishing those trophies, buddy. Apparently, living in the past is a hell of a lot more comfortable than facing the present.
