St. Louis is one of the most underrated cities in the US. The bad crime rep comes from the independent City of St. Louis 300k people (11% of the metro population of almost 3M, not being able to dilute crime stats into a larger county. Basic math. All the crime stats are based on 300k vs. 1.3 M that would be present in the stats with a merger STL city-county. The oldest, most impoverished areas exist in the bad parts of the independent city.
