You should read it. The Bible wasn't written in a week. It was written over hundreds of years..many laws and teachings were altered and struck down by Jesus in the New Testament, because they no longer applied.
People who point out this nitpicky stuff like eating pork are reaching for strawmen, because it was Old Testament stuff. Christians are following the teachings of Christ, which come from the New Testament. The Old Testament is mostly anecdotal.
The part about eating pork and catfish was a part of Mosaic law, enforced by Moses to his people. There were 600 laws of Mosaic law, and none apply to Christians because it was struck down by Jesus.
