You also have to understand that the city and the surrounding areas are like two separate cities. The suburbs hold the vast majority of the wealth and population. The downtown area has struggled, but there is a lot of growth in tech and new swanky housing.

Maybe they were. All I know is it was all over pretty quickly. No one even got close to rushing the field. And as much as St. Louisans like their Budweiser (at least back then pre-InBev) it was a Sunday afternoon game. Far fewer drunks.

To me it just seems stale. And the city itself reminds me of Charlotte, large city not worth writing home about. I have to go there every couple of weeks for work and each time I am very underwhelmed

I do. St. Louis's metro area as a whole is experiencing a slowdown in growth. Other metro areas similar in size are growing much faster.

I did this year a few times. I just moved to Missouri a few months back couldn't wait to experience that atmosphere at Busch, I was very underwhelmed. Maybe my expectations were too high, I wouldn't even have it in my top 5 of baseball environments.
