You started a thread dogging MSU (umm, no pun) after their ladies b ball team lost a natty to Notre Dame. This is where the SEC needs to rally around our own - damnit.

Ole Miss gave the name to The Moo after Dan the Defendant called us TSUN. Dan stole TSUN from the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry and wanted to start the same intensity in Mississippi.

I was at State in the early 90's and we called it Starkvegas then. That's pretty funny though that Ole Miss is claiming they were responsible for it. Next thing you know they will be claiming outright National Championships. Too bad they haven't started claiming that the cheating just wasn't worth it. Guess they don't mind their coach having to hide in the janitor's closet at the NFL draft on what was supposed to be the biggest night in Ole Miss football history. I guess in a way it was.

From what I recall, Skip Bertman started calling it that back when he & Polk had a running rivalry in the late 80's early 90's. Skip had a collection of State jokes & Starkvegas was always one of his most well received. And not meaning to hijack the thread, but another favorite: "whenever the team checks into the hotel for a series, I always ask for a room without a view". " Three State players were arrested for trying to smuggle books into the city. " And, yea, they probably do sound better when Skip gets on a roll. But fairly sure Starkvegas is his.

last year when we went to the final four?
I'd say we sniffed it because the final was then played 2 days later on that same court.
The smell of the north carolina players and their fans can very much be smelled in the arena.
