But State still has a winning record against USM, unless you count the 2 forfeits. You represent a lot of what is bad about college football internet forums, Claynic.

I'm going to go on and guess you are one of those USM fans that thinks the Mustard Birds could win 7-8 games in the SEC every year and that OM and State are scared to play yall.

OM is categorically scared to play USM (with a 18-6 record against USM they should be). There is no other logical excuse for ducking USM since losing four out of the last five against them. State, on the other hand, is obviously not scared to play USM.

Edited to correct the actual win loss, which was wrong.

I want to say, hell yeah, "ain't skeered." But I don't blame ole miss one bit. It's the smart thing to do(not necessarily the right thing). If southern has a good team for once and beats us, we'll never hear the end of it, but I'm not too concerned with that happening. If Templeton were still in charge, I would be.

It just doesn't make sense for us to play them. We beat them and all we get is of course you should win you are in the SEC. We lose and they make fricking tshirts about it.

Lose lose situation

This thread didn't go as planned did it? GTFO Buzzard, I'd love to see MSU and USM match up in the liberty bowl so we can beat your arse

Bama probably thinks the same about playing State.

Why did it make sense for State to play Tulane (home and home), Houston (home and home), UAB (home and home), Louisiana Tech (on the road) and Middle TN State (home and home)? What made so much sense about playing Southeastern?

Why does it make sense for other similarly situated SEC schools to do it? LSU/Tulane, LSU/La Tech, Florida/South Florida, Florida/Central Florida, Tennessee/Memphis, Kentucky/Louisville

If State wins then they will shut USM up and help out recruiting. Easy win (since USM is so inferior) and easier recruiting seems like win win to me.

What really sucks is we have to split half the revenue that State created a majority of. They will make several hundred thousand to a million bucks off a game they sold all of a hundred tickets to. I would always prefer to play Jackson State or Alcorn, they have fans that travel well and they will sell their tickets.

I'm pretty sure the only reason Ole Miss will not schedule them is because we don't want to make the trip to Hattiesburg. I think i remember hearing there were discussions in the last couple of years but USM wouldn't agree to it because we refused to go and play in Hattiesburg.
I could be wrong though.

Neither State or Ole Miss gain anything from playing the game. It doesn't help recruiting if you win because Ole Miss and State never have to seriously compete with Southern for recruits. The only big name recruit that either have lost in recruiting to them is DeAndre Brown.

Miss St. is better than Kentucky and about on par with Vandy. However, if I had to pick I think state can beat Vandy.

Aww give the OP a break. State fans should still be ripe for the picking. After all the many weeks of shite we had to hear about the magical Dan "Merlins" Mullens, and how State was gonna be GRINDING on everybody's asses. How is that working out so far State fans?

Have you ever been to a Southern Miss sporting event?

They have the worst fan support in the State. Most of their students go home on the weekends instead of sticking around for their football games.
