I thought California had a travel ban on state groups traveling to Mississippi?
If Fresno state is a California state funded school, from California, and playing in Starkvegas how is this possible?
I guess the liberals will melt when they go to Mississippi to cheer on their team. Lol.

It's only been many hours since Stanford won the regional. Internet is your friend.

Not really since this has a tie to an actual sporting event and not just dumb political banter. That being said, this should have been asked days ago. Not after private school Stanford wins.

I see it’s Stanford which yes it is private.
Fresno which is public lost to them.
Close a few games from putting a state travel ban to a test to see how it would hurt NCAA athletic competitions.

it would be damned hilarious to advance on a forfeit because of that.

To be honest, I would have loved to see Fresno advance to play us and see how it would have worked out. Would have been comical.

They just can't use tax money to finance the trip. They would earmark a private donation from a booster to cover the trip. Case closed.

So funny that a state will prohibit travel to another US state, yet openly will travel to countries like China.

If it was really an issue, I'm sure some booster would pay for the travel.

Mississippi is one of 8 states in their banned list.

Stanford is a private school so this wouldn't come up.
But Fresno wasn't so that would've been funny to see

Is this the thread where I tell you that Stanford's going to tear Miss State a new a-hole?

They have more similar political ideas with them.

I think this is the reason for the travel ban in the first place. CA baws like anal sex and get offended by anyone that doesn't share their vision of wrecking assholes.

I wonder how this would work for football season when Cal plays Ole Miss in Oxford. Cal is a public school right?

That contract was in place before the ban, so it isn't affected.

I'm sure boosters would fund the road trip before any legal implications came into play. There are exceptions to the ban which include travel to maintain grant funding or licensure, or for auditing and revenue collection purposes. I'm not an attorney, but I would venture to say that Cal playing at Ole Miss would be included in revenue collection purposes considering the fact that they will receive a paycheck for the game being playing in Mississippi and the contract has already been signed previous to the enacted law.
