Is this board seriously retarded? UGA basketball has been historically barely a notch above SC/Vandy football level, and we're getting a guy that has taken a major SEC program to the tourney almost every season. We were never getting scott drew or sean miller despite what people wanted. This is a proven, safe hire to get us out of the literal rock bottom we are currently in and back to being respectable.

I think Georgia will be happy with him, he’s a good guy and gets average results, just time for a change here. His players love him and he won’t be Crean with 5 wins. This is a big win for UF, UGA and Coach White

Because UGA hasn't done much in MBB lately and most believe White is a solid coach despite things not working out at UF. As mentioned up thread it's kind of a Muschamp hire but UGA isn't a destination school right now. At worst, White could help make them into a much more attractive job for the next guy and at best he might actually do well.
I don't think UGA's AD is ready to commit to basketball but they're at least tired of a shitshow.
