You can't be serious. UT's facilities and campus are head and shoulder better. And I've been on both campuses, sat in both stadiums.
People forget Tennessee is still the only school in the country with a 100K football stadium and 20K basketball arena. Their overall athletic facilities...and I include practice facilities...are superior not just to Va.Tech, but to every school in the ACC.
Sheesh.
I'm telling you right now if John Currie calls Fuente this off-season, he ain't answering.
A lot of people don't know this, but Fuente stayed an extra year at Memphis just to find the *right* power 5 job.
Va Tech has a rabid, yet not entirely delusional fan base. It's a place you can win a title at, which in my opinion makes it about a top 25 or so job in the country. They play in the more winnable of the two ACC divisions.
Going to Tennessee would be about a lateral move at this point. More pressure, tougher schedule, and the program is arguably in worse shape. The benefits are that they have closer access to better talent (Fuente is much more X's and O's than he is a recruiter), they might be willing to pay him a little bit more money, and they have a more recognizable brand (which goes hand-in-hand with recruiting).
In a vacuum UT is a better job than Va Tech. However, they are close enough that it hardly seems you'd leave one for the other unless there were extenuating circumstances.

Why in the world would Fuente leave Va Tech for Tennessee at this point? I've said in another thread, that job is every bit as good as UT at this point
I was selfishly thinking about him for my team.
